Abstract

The seat, especially for public transport vehicles, consists of a chassis and of multi-layer upholstery. The upholstery consists of a flame-retardant covering material and a support element consisting of synthetic foam incorporating a fire-resistant material. Arranged between the covering material (7) and the support element (13) is a further intermediate layer (8) consisting of polyether foam. The intermediate layer is impregnated with a fire-proofing agent (9). The synthetic material of the support-element (13) contains a powder-type fire proofing material (14).
