Auf der in dem Rahmen bei b und c drehbaren Axe α ist das Stirnrad d aufgekeilt. In diesem sind vier Tritte e befestigt, an welchen ein Mensch wie an einer Leiter in die Höhe steigt, während er sich an dem Hebel /, der der Gröfse des Fahrenden entsprechend verstellbar auf der Stange k befestigt ist und zum Lenken des Vorderrades dient, festhält. Durch das Gewicht des aufsteigenden Körpers, das durch Anstemmen der Arme an den Hebel / noch vergröfsert werden kann, wird das Rad d, dadurch das zugehörige, auf der Axe g aufgekeilte Stirnrad h und somit die gleichfalls auf dieser Axe befestigten Laufräder i in Umdrehung versetzt. Diese Laufräder i sind durch Sperrvorrichtungen mit der Axe verbunden. An jedem befinden sich zwei Sperrklinken n, die durch Federn auf das auf die Axe aufgekeilte Sperrrad m gedrückt werden. Beim Fahren in gerader Richtung liegen die Sperrklinken ein und übertragen die Umdrehungskraft der Axe auf beide Treibräder. Beim Wenden dagegen entsteht für das äufsere Treibrad eine Zugkraft, der zufolge es sich schneller umzudrehen strebt, als die durch das innere Treibrad gehemmte Axe.
