Description

A process for the production of radioactive rubber threads for garments and bandages according to Patent 552 774, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of radioactive rubber threads as they are to be used for garments and bandages according to the 552,774th According to the main patent, the radioactive substances are to be incorporated into the rubber threads. It should be noted here that the radioactive substances cannot be brought into the rubber thread as mineral bodies in finely chopped up form if the threads have to be made very fine. The finest grains of radioactive material reduce the thread cross-section of the rubber, so that the mechanical properties are impaired. In addition, any granular accumulation of the radioactive substance can easily lead to local damage to the skin.

It has been suggested in what is called smoked rubber - an intermediate product made from rubber milk or latex - radioactive Bringing in substances. This can only be softened and dissolved in gasoline, so that the Mechanically incorporate non-radiant salts into the rubber compound only in powder form can. From this mixed mass rubber plates are then rolled, from which one Could cut threads. Apart from the fact that you are only dealing with threads of a larger size Can cut starch, these threads have the defects mentioned above.

The present invention avoids these shortcomings by making the radioactive Substances are added to the original material of the rubber threads (latex) before they are manufactured. This type of insertion has the advantage that the radioactive substances in the rubber milk (Latex) can be added to dissolved states before the rubber has precipitated. The radioactive substances are therefore in the finest distribution in the rubber, so that they do not affect the mechanical properties of the rubber threads in any way.

Beim Ausfällen des Kautschuks aus der Milch verbleiben die radioaktiven Stoffe zum größten Teil im KautschulL.The introduction of the radioactive substances into the rubber milk offers furthermore the advantage that the salts containing radium are used as an aqueous solution of the rubber milk can add. If the rubber precipitates out of the milk, the radioactive ones remain Substances for the most part in the KautschulL.

The procedure is expediently carried out in such a way that after the Mixing in the aqueous solution of the rubber containing the radioactive substances is precipitated. This is how the rubber precipitates directed, that the precipitating rubber molecules together with the protective colloid most of the radioactive substance introduced into the rubber milk in homogeneous distribution. The residue remaining in the rubber milk is dissolved or undissolved radioactive substances can be recovered by evaporating the residue and used.

The rubber threads produced in this way have due to the homogeneous distribution the radioactive, active substances have their normal shelf life and can be washed without that the radioactive substance is washed out. One can. so one, rubber-elastic Goods in which the rubber threads have been admixed with a radium-containing substance can easily be washed as often as desired without impairing the radioactivity. The radioactive healing effect of such a product therefore survives in any case .the rubber elasticity of the goods or the rubber threads.
