Mittels dieser Klebstoffschichten werden dann zum Beispiel die Fliesen an dem Dichtungsband befestigt. Dies tritt insbesondere häufig in Neubauten und renovierten Altbauten auf, in denen ein neuer Estrich verlegt wurde. Nachdem der Estrich getrocknet ist, arbeitet das Material häufig noch mehrere Monate. Es kann durchaus vorkommen, daß sich der Estrich noch 2-3 cm setzt. In diesem Fall werden die Fliesen durch das Dichtungsband von dem Estrich abgehoben und die Silicondichtungsfuge zwischen den Fliesen bricht.
