Nimmt eine Wespe den Duft der Zuckerlösung oder die Blütenfarbe des Drckels (3) wahr, so fliegt sie zu der Falle, landet auf dem Deckel (3) und krabbelt in das Innere, um zu der Zuckerlösung (2) zu gelangen. In der Mitte des Deckels (3) befindet sich eine Öffnung (4) mit ca. 10 mm Durchmesser, durch welche der Duft der Zuckerlösung nach Außen gelangen kann und eine Wespe in das Innere der Wespenfalle gelangen kann.
