Presentation arrangement and material web roll for such a presentation arrangement

The present invention relates to a presentation arrangement comprising a container and a writable material web wound in a roll, the roll being received in the container so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axis, the container being provided with a dispensing slot through which the writable material web can be dispensed from the container when the roll is unwound.

Such an arrangement is disclosed in WO 94/25294 to Boyd. In this application the roll is formed by a sheet of plastic which has an electrostatic charge. The presentation arrangement described by Boyd itself is particularly practical as it offers the possibility of forming presentation sheets of different sizes from a roll of plastic film web, which sheets can be easily applied to any surface such as a wall, window or door as a result of the electrostatic charge of the roll of plastic film web.

The Stonehouse patent US-A-5,010,671 discloses a writing pad with electrostatically charged sheets. Compared to Boyd's proposal, such a writing pad-like construction is difficult to handle because the user has to handle a relatively large writing pad.

Moreover, a whole sheet of paper is used in every case, even if only one piece of information is written down, which is a waste of material. It has also been found that the electrostatic charge dissipates and the adhesive properties decrease considerably when such writing pads are stored for a long period of time. Since the material is statically charged, it attracts dust and the material becomes dirty during storage. Despite the many advantages that Boyd's proposal has over Stonehouse's proposal, there are nevertheless significant disadvantages in Boyd's proposal that are also inherent in Stonehouse's proposal. It is in particular the disadvantages mentioned that have prevented the known devices from becoming commercially successful.

The invention is based in particular on the recognition of these problems. Strangely, both the Boyd publication and the Stonehouse publication only mention a film on which the writing can be erased. Both Boyd and Stonehouse are satisfied, on the one hand, with using a film that is thrown away after use and, on the other hand, with using a film that can be reused every time because it is erasable. In this business area, there seems to be a prejudice that the user needs an erasable or erasable film.

The inventor now realized that most users prefer a writing surface that, as far as writing properties and surface structure are concerned, gives the impression of paper as much as possible. Tests carried out under confidentiality with potential users have confirmed this insight.

Consequently, the present presentation arrangement according to the invention is characterized in that the material web is provided with at least one relatively rough surface, so

that what is written on it cannot be erased or wiped away and provided with at least one means whereby a part of the writable material web can be laid flat on a base.

It is much more pleasant for the user if the material web has an indelible, wipeable design. After the material web has been separated, attaching the piece of the material web to another surface results in far less risk that the written text will be wiped out and that stains will form on the user's clothing and hands. In addition, the material web can easily be rolled up or unfolded and stored without causing any loss of text. Due to the relatively rough surface, the material web is also matt or appears matt. Consequently, the light falling on the material web does not affect readability and the material web surface is also suitable for producing, for example, overhead transparencies and slides. In this regard, one can think of, for example, the projection of diagrams, overviews, graphics or the like that still have to be filled in. Furthermore, the relatively rough or matt surface of the material web allows it to be written on with several types of markers and to be pre-printed more accurately. Furthermore, the relatively rough surface leads to better adhesion to all types of surfaces, which is due to the greater unevenness or irregularity. An additional advantage for the manufacturer of the material web is that in the case of an indelible material web, the user will take a new material web much sooner, which is preferable from an economic point of view. Compared to the known flip charts with a large pad of paper, the presentation arrangement according to the invention offers the enormous advantage that it can take up a particularly compact unit, since the material web is arranged as a roll. Obviously,

This aspect was known from Boyd, but the writing surface known from this did not have the desired structure, with the result that Boyd's presentation arrangement was never a success. According to the proposal of the present invention, a very compact presentation arrangement is created which has a writing surface with excellent properties.

According to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the writable material web is a paper web and the means by which a part of the paper web can be laid out flat on a base are formed by reusable adhesives or bonding agents which are provided on at least one main surface of the paper web.

A display arrangement of this design offers the advantage that the roll is relatively cheap, while the quality of the writing surface is very good. All in all, paper is considered by most users to be the most desirable surface. In order to keep the previously rolled paper flat after unwinding the roll and to enable it to be attached to all types of surfaces, a reusable adhesive or a reusable bonding agent is provided. Preferably, the reusable adhesive is provided on the longitudinal edges of the paper web. The reusable adhesive can, for example, be the adhesive that is also used for the yellow Post-it™ from 3M, as is known from practice.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the material web is a plastic film web and the means by which a piece of the plastic film web can be laid out flat on a base are formed by an electrostatic charge applied to the plastic film web. The advantage of such an electrostatically charged plastic film is that it

types of surfaces easily and that the tendency of the film to curl up is minimized. Due to the relatively rough surface of the film, the advantages described in detail above are obtained. A particular advantage of the plastic film can also be mentioned that the relatively rough surface creates a writing surface that gives the user the optimal impression of paper.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the surface of the other side of the relatively rough surface of the material web can be relatively smooth so that what is written on it can actually be erased or wiped away. In a special application in which a user temporarily uses a writing surface from which what is written can be erased, the roll can easily be turned over so that the smooth, erasable or erasable surface faces the user.

According to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, it is also possible for both surfaces of the plastic film web to be provided with a relatively rough surface, so that what is written on both surfaces cannot be erased or erased.

If the material web is a plastic film web, in order to give the user as close as possible the impression of paper, it is particularly preferable that the plastic film is not transparent. For this purpose, the plastic film can, for example, be white or colored in another way.

For some applications, however, it is preferred that the plastic film web is transparent. For example, one can think of applications in which a special figure is traced under the transparent material web.

Another disadvantage of Boyd's proposal is that the blade guide also forms a pressure strip. After a sheet has been separated from the web, the web would always have to be passed back under the pressure strip, which is laborious and time-consuming.

In order to overcome this disadvantage, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the presentation arrangement is characterized in that at an upstream end of the output slot, as seen in the direction of the web output, the container comprises a cutting blade holder guide, to which a cutting blade holder is slidably mounted, the cutting blade holder extending over the output slot, and at the downstream end of the output slot, as seen in the direction of the web output, the container comprises a cutting blade intended for separating a sheet from the material web. Since the guide of the blade is placed at the upstream end of the output slot and there is no printing strip there, the material web can easily be further unrolled after a sheet has been separated and can be applied to the base by means of the electrostatic charge or the reusable adhesive or glue.

In order to be able to carry out the cutting process without any problems, according to a further advantageous embodiment of the invention, the presentation arrangement is characterized by a hardened strip placed at the downstream end of the output slot as seen in the material web output direction, which is placed therefrom at the shortest possible distance, wherein the hardened strip serves as a cutting counter surface for the cutting blade. Since the separating process can be carried out at the shortest possible distance from the output slot, the risk of the material web being torn open or damaged as a result of the cutting is reduced.

picked up is minimized. Due to this construction, the output slot actually serves as a printing strip. To improve this further according to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the presentation arrangement is characterized in that the output slot comprises material web flattening means, such as a brush or a flexible flap. Apart from the fact that the output slot can even better fulfill the function of a printing strip, dust can less easily penetrate into the container. This has the consequence that in the case where the material web is an electrostatically charged plastic film web, the electrostatic charge of the plastic film web is better maintained and the user finds a clean writing surface.

In order to minimize slipping of the roll of material in the container during cutting, whereby slipping can have a negative effect on cutting, the container comprises truncated cone-shaped, rotatable bearing-mounted roll holders on two end faces, at least one of which is resiliently displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the roll, which enables the roll to be clamped between the two roll holders with a pre-tension. Due to this bearing fastening of the roll in the container, a stable positioning of the roll of material is achieved.

The container advantageously comprises winding means that can be brought into engagement from the outside of the container and by means of which the roll can be wound up and unwound. Such winding means can be designed, for example, as a crank or rotary knob. With the winding means, a partially unwound web of material can be wound back up onto the roll and thus stored safely in the container.

The container of the presentation arrangement according to the invention can comprise fastening means for attaching a shelf or a plate-shaped part.

In order to make it easy to write on the two surfaces of the web of material without having to remove the roll of web of material from the container, the attachment can be designed so that the container can be attached to the plate-shaped part in two positions, with the dispensing slot always being placed on the same side of the plate-shaped part, so that the web of material can be written on in a first position on one surface thereof and in a second position on the other surface.

A further advantageous embodiment of the presentation arrangement according to the invention, which is particularly easy to transport, is characterized by a stretchable screen which is rolled up in a first position and forms a compact unit together with the container, and which is unrolled and stretched tightly in a second position so that it can serve as a base for an unwound, writable piece of material web.

An alternative embodiment of a presentation arrangement that is easy to transport is characterized by a plate-shaped part that is folded together in a first position and forms a compact unit together with the container, and that is unfolded in a second position so that it can serve as a base for an unwound piece of material web to be written on.

In order to further facilitate transport, according to a further preferred embodiment of the invention, it is preferred that the presentation arrangement comprises a collapsible or foldable or collapsible support frame which in

When folded or folded, it forms a compact unit together with the container.

It goes without saying that the provision of a handle makes it easier to transport the folded unit.

The container of the display assembly can be made, for example, from an injection molding or transfer molding process or by extrusion. In the case of the latter, a part of a desired length is sawn off from an extrusion section and provided with two end stops which also serve as roller bearings. In this way, several display assemblies of different lengths can be produced economically.

The invention also relates to a roll of material web which is obviously intended for a presentation arrangement as described above, wherein at least one surface of the material web is relatively rough so that what is written on it cannot be erased or wiped away, and the material web is provided with means whereby a piece of the material web suitable for writing can be laid out or laid flat on a base.

The invention will now be explained further with reference to several embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings. It shows:

The presentation arrangement shown in Fig. 1 consists of a plate-shaped part 1, which is made up of a number of slats that are connected to one another and can be easily moved or rotated relative to one another. A presentation arrangement 2 is present, which is shown in more detail in cross-section in Fig. 3. A support frame 3 consists of two feet that are connected by rotatable connecting arms 4. The feet consist of foot parts 5 and 6, whereby the foot part 5 can be received in the foot part 6.

As shown in Fig. 2 and 3, a removable handle 15 is provided, which also serves to attach a container 12 to a shelf 21. Reference numeral 7 designates a fastening element. In this way, a complete, optionally mobile, presentation arrangement is created.

Furthermore, after using the arrangement, it is possible to detach these parts from the support frame 3 again and to fold the support frame 3 by moving the feet away and pushing them together. This produces an assembly that is sufficiently compact so that it can be accommodated together with the presentation sheet arrangement 2 in the plate-shaped part 1 rolled up into a tube.

This is shown in Fig. 2. The handle 15 is attached to the receiving parts 22 of the plate-shaped part 1.

In Fig. 3 the presentation sheet arrangement 2 is shown.
This arrangement consists of a container 12 in which a roll 10 of plastic film 11 is housed, the film being electrostatically charged. The container can be opened in a simple manner, which allows the roll 10 to be turned over or replaced, while the presentation arrangement remains in the erected position in which it is immediately usable after erection, without
unnecessary activities. It is clear that it is also possible to choose a paper web wound on a roll, the roll being provided with means
whereby a paper web part can be laid flat on a base part. Reusable adhesives, such as
for example for Post-it® would be suitable for this application. The container 12 comprises a dispensing slot 13. A cutting blade 14 is also provided, which can be operated adjacent to the dispensing slots 13. The cutting blade 14 can be used to cut off a part 11 from the
Plastic film web can be moved back and forth. In Fig. 3 it is clearly visible that the guide 23 of the
Cutting blade holder 24 of the cutting blade 14 on the
upstream end of the discharge slot 13 and that the cutting blade 14 is placed at the downstream
located end of the output slot 13. The

Discharge slot 13. In the embodiment shown, the cutting blade 14 acts on a hardened cutting strip 25 against which the cutting blade 14 is pressed during the cutting process. According to an alternative embodiment of the invention, however, it is also very possible that instead of the cutting strip 25, a recess is provided in which the cutting blade 14 acts. With such a construction, the risk that the film or paper 11 is

clamped or trapped during the cutting process.

If an electrostatically charged plastic film is used for the material web, this film advantageously has a thickness of between 30 and 60 μιη. A thickness of approximately 35 μιη is particularly preferred. Preferably, this is a white film. It has been found that with a construction shown here, the electrostatic charge of the film material is maintained. This electrostatic charge is important in order to enable a film sheet 11 to be fixed to a wall or the like after the sheet 11 has been written on without additional adhesive or bonding agents being necessary. Obviously, the electrical charge is also important in order to keep the film web rolled up for a longer period of time in a flat position when it is written on.

Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of the invention. The presentation arrangement is mounted on a leg which consists of telescopically interlocking leg parts 8, 9. Such a leg can be attached to a wall by means of e.g. suction cups or the like and the sheet material can be rolled out laterally therefrom according to the invention.

Figures 5 and 6 show an alternative embodiment of the presentation arrangement according to the invention, in which the foldable plate part 1 has been replaced by a stretchable screen. In a first position, the stretchable screen 26 is rolled up and forms a packaged unit with the container. In a second position, it is unrolled and stretched tightly so that it can serve as a base for an unrolled piece of the plastic film web or paper web that is to be written on. Spring is held taut and can be unrolled to different dimensions by means of an articulated rod arrangement 27 shown in Fig. 6. A presentation arrangement constructed in this way is not very heavy and is easy to transport. The plastic film web can be made of polypropylene, polyester or vinyl, for example. It goes without saying that these materials are only given as examples and other film materials or mixtures of different film materials are also suitable. As previously indicated, a paper web can also serve as the material to be described.

For the presentation arrangement according to the invention, it is essential that the material web has at least a relatively rough surface so that the writing on it cannot be erased or erased and, for the purpose of the compactness of the presentation arrangement, the material can be arranged as a roll and comprises means whereby the material which tends to roll up can be laid flat on a base, while the material web should give the impression as far as possible that it is paper.

Claims (22)

Protection claims 1. Presentation arrangement (2) consisting of a container (12) and a writable material web (11) which is wound up in the form of a roll (10), the roll (10) being received in the container (12) so that it can be rotated about its longitudinal axis, and the container (12) being provided with a dispensing slot (13) through which the writable material web (11) is dispensed from the container (12) when the roll (10) is unwound, characterized in that the material web (11) is provided with at least one relatively rough surface so that what is written thereon cannot be erased or wiped away, and that at least one means is provided whereby a part of the writable material web can be laid flat on a base. 2. Presentation arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the writable material web (11) is formed from a paper web and the means by which a part of the paper web can be laid flat on a base is formed by a reusable adhesive or bonding agent which is provided on at least one surface of the paper web (11), 3. Presentation arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the reusable adhesive or bonding agent is provided on the longitudinal edges of the paper web (11). 4. Presentation arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the material web (11) consists of a plastic film web (11) and the means by which a part of the plastic film web can be laid flat on a base is formed by an electrostatic charge applied to the plastic film web (11). 5. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the surface on the other side of the relatively rough surface of the material web (11) is relatively smooth so that what is written thereon can be erased or wiped away. 6. Presentation arrangement according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the two surfaces of the material web (11) are provided with a relatively rough surface, so that what is written on both surfaces cannot be erased, deleted or wiped away. 7. Presentation arrangement according to at least claim 4, characterized in that the material web is not transparent. 8. Presentation arrangement according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the material web is transparent. 9. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at an upstream end of the dispensing slot (13) as seen in the material web dispensing direction, the container has a guide (23) for a cutting blade holder, on which a cutting blade holder (24) is slidably mounted, wherein the cutting blade holder (24) extends over the output slot (13), and that at a downstream end of the output slot (13) as seen in the material output direction, the container comprises a cutting blade (14) which is intended for separating a sheet (11) from the material web. 10. Presentation arrangement according to claim 9, characterized by a downstream end of the dispensing slot as seen in the material dispensing direction (13) placed hardened strip, which is placed therefrom at as short a distance as possible, wherein the hardened strip serves as a cutting counter surface for the cutting blade (14). 11. Presentation arrangement according to claim 9 or 10, characterized in that the dispensing slot (13) comprises means for leveling the material web, such as a brush or a flexible flap. 12. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container (12) comprises, on two end faces thereof, frustoconical, rotatably mounted roller holders, at least one of which is resiliently displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the roller (10), which enables the roller (10) to be clamped between the two roller holders with pre-tension. 13. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container comprises winding means which can be introduced from the outside of the container and by means of which the roll (10) can be wound up and unwound. 14. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container (12) comprises holders (7, 15) for attaching a shelf or plate-shaped part (1). 15. Presentation arrangement according to claim 13, characterized in that the holders (7, 15) are designed such that the container can be provided on the plate-shaped part (1) in two positions, the dispensing slot (13) always being placed on the same side of the plate-shaped part (1), so that the material web (11) can be written on in a first position on one surface and in a second position on the other surface. 16. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by a stretchable screen (26) which is rolled up in one position and forms a compact unit together with the container (12) and which is unrolled in a second position and is tautly stretched so that it can serve as a base for an unwound material web part (11) to be written on. 17. Presentation arrangement according to one of claims 1-14, characterized by a plate-shaped part (1) which is folded together in a first position and forms a compact unit together with the container, and which is unfolded in a second position so that it can serve as a base for an unwound material web part (11) to be described. 18. Presentation arrangement according to claim 15 or 16, characterized by a collapsible or slidable support frame (3) which, in a folded position, forms a compact unit with the container (12). 19. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by a handle (15). 20. Presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container is manufactured by means of an injection molding process. 21. A presentation arrangement according to any one of claims 1-19, characterized in that the container comprises a main part produced by extrusion and sawn to a desired length from an extrusion section and two end stops which also serve as roller bearings. 22. A roll of material web which is obviously intended for a presentation arrangement according to one of the preceding claims, in which at least one surface of the material web (11) is relatively rough so that what is written on it cannot be erased or wiped away and in which the material web is provided with means whereby a writable piece of material web can be laid flat on a base.
