In Figur 1 ist gezeigt, wie das Kinderrückhaltesystem durch ein konventionelles Gurtsystem (1) gehalten wird. Figur 2 zeigt als Halterung ein Scharnier (2). Beispielhaft ist die Lage des Gasgenerators (3) aufgezeigt. Das Airbaggewebe (4) ist im Prallkissen (5) integriert. Es können ein Strömungskanal (6) oder auch mehrere Strömungskanäle verwendet werden, um z.B. ein diffuses Einströmen des den Airbag füllenden Gases zu ermöglichen. Der Airbag wird hierbei auf der Oberfläche des Prallkissens (7) befestigt. Dies kann z.B. durch eine Klebung oder durch einen eingeschäumten Metalikorb o.a. geschehen, der gleichzeitig in der Lage ist, Energie zu absorbieren.
