Abstract

The merchandising display holder for a knife has a casing (10) to receive at least part of the knife between the rear (12) and front (11) walls of the casing. The upper ends of the casing is closed by a further wall (14) with a hanging hole (23). The lower end of the case has an opening (16) to receive the knife blade and a closure strap (21) with a closure stud (19) engaging holes (22) in the stud.

Case of a tool

The invention relates to the sheath of a tool, in particular the sheath of a knife, wherein preferably only the blade of the knife is surrounded by the sheath and the knife is held captive in the sheath.

Such a blade guard has become known through DE 299 09 910 Ul.

The known blade guard for a blade of a knife consists of two essentially congruent partial surfaces, of which at least one is provided with an adhesive on one surface essentially over its entire surface and which can be glued together to accommodate the blade between them.

With the well-known blade guard, the blade, and thus the entire knife, is connected to one another using an adhesive. If the knife is to be removed from the blade guard, the adhesive between the blade guard and the knife blade must be removed. If the adhesive connection is accidentally released, the knife can fall out of the blade guard. Traces of adhesive can also remain on the blade if the blade is removed from the blade guard. The adhesive must then also be removed from the blade.

Knife sheaths made of a wide variety of materials are also known from the state of the art. Plastic or paper covers enclose the entire knife or parts of a knife and only partially protect a knife against unwanted removal of the knife from the known knife sheath. Often, known knife sheaths or covers cover the knife prepared for sale, so that a buyer can only partially look at and/or touch the knife he is interested in. A satisfactory final assessment of the knife selected for purchase is often not possible in the original packaging.

The object of the invention is therefore to develop a secure packaging for a tool, in particular a knife, which ensures secure, captive protection of the blade of a knife and leaves out the handle of the knife so that a prospective buyer can take the knife handle or a section of the tool in his hand, but the original packaging remains securely closed in the area of the blade or another section of the tool.

According to the invention, the object is achieved by a sheath-shaped cover of a tool, wherein the tool can be at least partially inserted into the cover, which, when the tool is inserted, completely covers the tool or sections of the tool via a rear wall and a front wall, in that, viewed in the axial direction of the cover, lateral edges of the rear and front walls are connected to one another, the cover has an upper and lower edge running transversely to the axial extension of the cover, wherein the upper edge is closed and the lower edge has an opening on which a wall section is formed starting from the rear or front wall, which protrudes beyond the opening and on which a flexible band and a closing mechanism are provided, via which a first end region of the band can be permanently connected to another second end region of the band.

The cover according to the invention therefore has the advantage that a prospective buyer can view the goods ready for sale and pick up parts of the goods, but it is not possible for him to remove the goods as a whole from the sheath-shaped cover. A part of a product is permanently bound into the cover via the locking mechanism, so that the product cannot be exchanged. The cover according to the invention therefore meets all of a seller's requirements and dangerous or easily damaged parts of a tool can be safely protected, so that a buyer of goods packaged with the cover according to the invention can be sure that his selected product has definitely never been removed from the original packaging. Removing the entire tool from the cover according to the invention, preferably a knife, is only possible if the cover is irreversibly destroyed.

In a further embodiment of the invention, the side edges and the upper edge of the cover according to the invention are permanently connected to one another. This also ensures that the cover according to the invention cannot be reversibly opened at any other point than at the closing mechanism, which permanently holds the goods packaged with the cover according to the invention in the cover. The cover according to the invention therefore represents a secure packaging for a tool.

is at least partially wrapped. On the one hand, he can hold parts of the tool in his hand and, on the other hand, he can view particularly sensitive parts of the tool through the cover according to the invention, and it is ensured that the tool will not be damaged when the tool intended for sale is picked up.

In a further development of the cover according to the invention, a cardboard box that fills the interior of the cover can be inserted into the cover next to the tool. This has the advantage that the cover according to the invention can be stabilized by this cardboard box. The cover is stiffened by the cardboard box. The cardboard box can be made from a paper-like material or a similar material. If the cover is made from a transparent material, the tool, in particular a knife blade, can only be viewed from one side when the cardboard box is inserted.

The cover can preferably have an opening in the area of the upper edge. This has the advantage that a tool packed in the cover according to the invention can be hung on the carrying pins of a presentation wall. Even heavy tools or knives can be held securely and captively in the cover according to the invention. The locking mechanism is designed so that the weight of a tool cannot destroy or open the locking mechanism.

In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the wall section holds two parts of a plastic snap fastener that can be permanently plugged together while holding the band. The two parts form the secure, permanent locking mechanism. If a band is closed using a plastic snap fastener that locks together permanently when pressed together, the cover according to the invention can only be opened with a tool held therein by irreversibly destroying either the band or the snap fastener or the cover itself.

It is particularly advantageous if the two parts of the snap fastener pass through pre-punched holes in the band when they are put together, or if the band is pierced at any point when the two parts of the snap fastener are put together. With such band designs, it is possible to hold a tool tightly wrapped around it and

in this tightly wrapped form via the non-releasable closing mechanism to be held securely in the cover according to the invention.

If a cardboard box is inserted into the cover according to the invention, it can be labeled on both sides with information about the tool stored in the cover according to the invention. In addition to a high level of transparency, a large information content is guaranteed.

In a further embodiment of the cover according to the invention, the cardboard has an opening that corresponds in size and shape to the opening in the cover in the area of the upper edge. With this embodiment, the opening in the cover can be additionally stabilized and secured. The opening can be reliably prevented from tearing out, even when very heavy tools are held in the cover according to the invention.

The tool held in the sheath according to the invention is preferably a knife with a handle and a blade, the size of the sheath according to the invention being largely adapted to the size of the blade of the knife. The band at the lower edge of the sheath according to the invention has a length that is suitable for wrapping around the handle, and the locking mechanism designed as a one-time lockable snap fastener is suitable for permanently holding the band wrapped tightly around the handle together.

With all the advantageous developments of the cover according to the invention, a packaging is provided that can safely cover parts of a tool and ensures effective protection of the covered tool parts. The cover according to the invention creates a cover that reliably prevents tools from being exchanged in the cover.

In a further embodiment of the sheath-shaped cover according to the invention, the wall section is formed with a through-opening running parallel to the front and rear walls of the cover, through which the band can be pushed and wherein the band, in the state pushed through the through-opening, is completely covered at least on a section of the band by the material that forms the through-opening.

This has the advantage that any bands with the sheath-shaped cover can be used to connect a tool to the sheath-shaped cover. The band is pushed through the opening and wrapped around the tool in the cover and then irreversibly closed with a locking mechanism such as a snap fastener. A tool is thus held securely in the sheath-shaped cover and can only be removed from the sheath-shaped cover if either the sheath-shaped cover or the band is destroyed.

In a further embodiment of the sheath-shaped casing according to the invention, the wall section has a breakthrough hole running transversely to the through opening.
This has the advantage that straps without their own locking mechanism can also be used to connect a tool to the sheath-shaped casing. Any snap fasteners can be used, which pierce both the wall section and the strap when the snap fastener is closed.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the band is provided at one end with a pin which has a projection at its free end and at the other end a row of holes formed from holes is provided over a length of the band. This has the advantage that no additional closing mechanism has to be used to close the band after it has been placed around a tool. The closing mechanism is formed on the band itself in that a thickened section of a pin, which is designed as a projection, is pushed through a hole in the perforated band until the projection overlaps the edge of a hole when the pin is pushed into the hole. Due to the stepped design of the projection, the pin can no longer be pulled back or out of the hole without the hole or the band being destroyed. This design of a band enables a particularly cost-effective and simple design of a connection of a tool, here in particular a knife, to a sheath-shaped casing.

Further advantages emerge from the description and the attached drawing. The features mentioned above and those listed below can also be used individually or in any combination with one another. The embodiment shown in the drawing shows the cover according to the invention only as an example. They show:

The cover according to the invention is shown in the drawing in a highly schematic manner and is not to be understood to scale. The cover according to the invention is shown in a form in which the structure according to the invention can be shown.

Figure 1 shows a cover with the reference number 10, which is composed of a front wall 11 and a rear wall 12. The front and rear walls 11, 12 have lateral edges 13 which are permanently connected to one another, for example welded. The front wall 11 is also permanently connected to the rear wall 12 at an upper edge 14. An opening 16 is provided at a lower edge 15, into which a cardboard box 17 can be inserted in the direction of the arrow 17' over the entire length of the cover 10. The cardboard box 17 can, on the one hand, stiffen and stabilize the cover 10, and on the other hand, the cardboard box 17 can serve on both sides as an information carrier for the goods stored in the cover 10.

At the lower edge 15 on the rear wall 12, a wall section 18 is formed which holds a first part 19 of a plastic snap fastener and a second part 20 of a plastic snap fastener. Furthermore, a band 21 is provided on the wall section 18, in which holes 22 are punched. One end of the band 21 is held on the wall section 18 by the first part 19 of a plastic snap fastener. The band 21 as well as the wall section 18 can be bent so far that they can be bent to

a tool and that the parts 19, 20 spaced apart in the drawing can be pressed into each other inseparably.

An opening 23 is provided on the upper edge 14, via which the cover 10 can be hung, for example, on pins of a sales wall. If the cover 10 according to the invention is hung with a tool stored in the cover 10 by means of the opening 23, the cover 10 carries the tool stored in the cover 10 securely and captively and also inseparably from the cover 10.

Figure 2 shows the case 10 with a knife 24 held in the case 10, which has a blade 25 and a handle 26. The front wall 11 is made of a transparent plastic film and the rear wall 12 is covered by the cardboard 17. The blade 25 lies on the cardboard 17 in the case 10, and the band 21 wraps tightly around the handle 26. The two ends of the band 21 are held together by the one-time lockable snap fastener, the first part 19 of which is shown in dashed lines. The handle 26 lies on the lower edge 15 of the case 10.

Figure 3 shows the cover 10 in a rear view with a knife 24 held in the cover 10. The front wall 11 is covered by the cardboard 17, so that the blade 25 can only be shown in an interrupted contour. The rear wall 12 is visible in Figure 3 and the second part 20 of the plastic snap fastener is visible resting on top. The two parts 19, 20 are permanently inserted into one another and hold the band 21 together, which wraps tightly around and holds the handle 26 of the knife 24.

Figure 4a shows a further embodiment of a sheath-shaped casing 31, of which only a lower section is shown, on which a wall section 32 is formed. On the wall section 32, a through-opening 33 is provided, which runs parallel to the front and rear walls of the casing 31 and through which a band 34 can be pushed. The band 34 is held and guided by the through-opening 33, at least over short sections over the full circumference of the band 34. In addition, a breakthrough hole 35 is formed on the wall section 32, through which a closing mechanism, such as a snap fastener, can be pushed, with which one can connect the wall section 32 to the band 34 and the band 34 to a tool section, which the band 34 completely wraps around.

If a pin 36 is formed on one end of the band 34, which has a mushroom-like projection 37 at its free end, which tapers abruptly over a shoulder, and if holes 39 are provided over a length section 38 on the band 34, into which the pin 36 can engage via its shoulder, the breakthrough opening 35 is inoperative. The pin 36, together with one of the holes 39, forms the locking mechanism in which a pin 36 inserted through a hole 39 engages over an edge of a hole 39 with its projection 37. The edge 40 of a hole 39 is overlapped by the projection 37 to such an extent that a pin 36 completely inserted into the hole 39 can no longer be pulled out of the hole 39 without damage.

Figure 4b shows a section of the band 34 with holes 39, which have a reinforced edge 40. If the band 34 is placed around a tool, in particular around a knife handle, and a pin is pushed through one of the holes 39 so far that the thickened end of the pin 36 can overlap the edge 40, the band 34 is closed and can no longer be removed from the knife handle without being destroyed.

Claims (13)

1. Sheath-shaped casing ( 10 ; 31 ) of a tool ( 24 ), wherein the tool ( 24 ) can be at least partially inserted into the casing ( 10 ), which completely covers the tool ( 24 ) or sections of the tool ( 24 ) via a rear wall ( 12 ) and a front wall ( 11 ) when the tool ( 24 ) is inserted, in that lateral edges ( 13 ) of the rear and front walls ( 11 ; 12 ) are connected to one another as seen in the axial direction of the casing ( 10 ; 31 ), the casing ( 10 ; 31 ) has an upper and lower edge (14; 15) running transversely to the axial extension of the casing ( 10 ; 31 ), wherein the upper edge ( 14 ) is closed and the lower edge ( 15 ) has an opening ( 16 ), on which a wall section ( 18 ; 32 ) is formed starting from the rear or front wall ( 11 ; 12 ), which protrudes beyond the opening ( 16 ) and on which a flexible band ( 21 ; 34 ) and a closing mechanism ( 19 ; 20 ) are provided, via which a first end region of the band ( 21 ; 34 ) can be non-detachably connected to another second end region of the band ( 21 ; 34 ). 2. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to claim 1, characterized in that the lateral edges ( 13 ) and the upper edge ( 14 ) of the cover ( 10 ; 31 ) are permanently connected to one another. 3. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the rear and front walls ( 11 ; 12 ) are formed from a transparent film. 4. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that, in addition to the tool ( 24 ), a cardboard box ( 17 ) filling the interior of the cover ( 10 ; 31 ) can be inserted into the cover ( 10 ; 31 ). 5. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that an opening ( 23 ) is provided in the region of the upper edge ( 14 ). 6. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ) according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the wall section ( 18 ) holds two parts ( 19 , 20 ) of a snap fastener made of plastic, which can be permanently plugged together while receiving the band ( 21 ), and that the two parts ( 19 , 20 ) form the closure mechanism. 7. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ) according to claim 6, characterized in that the two parts ( 19 , 20 ) when plugged together pass through pre-punched holes ( 22 ) in the band ( 21 ) or pierce the band ( 21 ) at any desired point. 8. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to claim 4, characterized in that the cardboard ( 17 ) can be written on on one or both sides. 9. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to claim 8, characterized in that the cardboard ( 17 ) has an opening ( 23 ) which corresponds in size and shape to the opening ( 23 ) in the cover ( 10 ; 31 ) in the region of the upper edge ( 14 ). 10. Sheath-shaped cover ( 10 ; 31 ) according to one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the tool is a knife ( 24 ) with a handle ( 26 ) and a blade ( 25 ), that the cover ( 10 ) is largely adapted in size to the size of the blade ( 25 ), that the band ( 21 ; 34 ) has a length that is suitable for wrapping around the handle ( 26 ), and that the closing mechanism ( 19 , 20 ) designed as a one-time closable snap fastener holds the band ( 21 ) tightly wrapped around the handle ( 26 ) together in an undetachable manner. 11. Sheath-shaped cover ( 31 ) according to one of claims 1 to 5 and 7 to 10, characterized in that the wall section ( 32 ) has a through-opening ( 33 ) running parallel to the front and rear wall of the cover ( 31 ), through which the band ( 34 ) can be pushed and that the band ( 34 ) is completely covered by the through-opening ( 33 ) at least on a section of the band ( 34 ) when pushed through the through-opening ( 33 ). 12. Sheath-shaped cover ( 31 ) according to claim 11, characterized in that the wall section ( 32 ) has a breakthrough bore ( 35 ) running transversely to the through opening ( 33 ). 13. Sheath-shaped cover ( 31 ) according to claim 11 or 12, characterized in that the band ( 34 ) has at one end a pin ( 36 ) with a projection ( 37 ) formed at the free end of the pin ( 36 ) and at the other end preformed holes ( 39 ) over a length section ( 38 ) of the band ( 34 ).
