Die früher ausschließlich übliche Holzfenster werden insbesondere durch Fensterkonstruktionen aus Polyvinylchlorid (PVC) oder Aluminiumbedrängt. Diese Kunststoff- oder Aluminiumfenster brauchen nicht oft oder gar nicht gestrichen zu werden.
