Das der Erfindung zu Grunde liegende Problem ist das zu bestimmten Jahreszeiten sehr starke Auftreten von Frucht- oder Essigfliegen. Besonders wenn das Angebot an Obst groß ist, nehmen auch diese Fliegen explosionsartig zu und stellen zumindest im Küchen- oder Wohnbereich eine nicht zu übersehende Belästigung oder sogar hygienische Beeinträchtigung dar. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist die gezielte Beseitigung dieser Insekten durch eine Falle, die besonders an die Eigenschaften und das Flugverhalten der Frucht- oder Essigfliegen angepasst ist und deren Herstellung und Handhabung einen möglichst geringen Aufwand an Material und Arbeit erfordert. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, dass die Klebefläche nicht am Boden, sondern an der Decke der Falle angebracht wird, wo sie sehr leicht durch eine neue ersetzt werden kann, wenn die alte mit gefangenen Insekten bedeckt ist. Der Seitenteil der Falle wird von einer nach oben und unten offenen Seitenwandeinheit gebildet, die am unteren Rand mindestens eine Einflugöffhung von 1 mm bis 3 mm Höhe und mindestens 10 mm Breite hat. Als Köder dient Obst, beispielsweise Weintrauben, oder Abfälle von Obst, die keine zusätzlichen Kosten verursachen, Fruchtsaft oder andere für Frucht- oder Essigfliegen bekannte Lockmittel, die in einer kleinen Schale am Boden der Falle leicht austauschbar aufgestellt werden. Der sehr feine Geruchssinn der Fruchtoder Essigfliegen genügt, um sie ohne zwangsweise Luftströmung in das Innere zu locken. Die Lockwirkung kann durch Beheizung der Bodenplatte noch gesteigert werden. Die geringen Abmessungen der Einflugöffhung sorgen dafür, dass in der Falle befindliche Insekten diese nicht sofort wieder verlassen.
