Containers for transporting coins

The present invention relates to a carrying device for transporting coins according to claim 1.

Coins are very heavy in large quantities. Money bags made of plastic-reinforced cotton are well-known for delivering coins, e.g. as change to shops or for transporting coins to banks. Although these can withstand the great weight of the coins, they cannot be stacked, are difficult to carry due to a lack of suitable handles, are expensive and, as an inhomogeneous composite material, are difficult to recycle. However, particularly with the introduction of the euro as a European currency, it will be necessary to distribute coins in large quantities as quickly as possible and to deliver them to bank branches and shops as change in handy sets - so-called "starter sets".

Therefore, the present invention is based on the object of providing a device for transporting coins

to create money that is inexpensive and easy to handle

This object is achieved according to the invention by a carrying device having the features of claim 1. Preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

The carrying device according to the invention for transporting coins has a closed container for holding the coins and a carrying case with a handle into which the container can be inserted. For this purpose, the carrying case has the shape of a straight cylindrical tube with an inner tube profile that matches an outer contour of the container. The container is folded from inherently stable flat material - preferably cardboard, in particular laminated cardboard with a layer of corrugated cardboard as a particularly light, inexpensive, recyclable and durable material - and the carrying case is also made of a flat material, preferably the same as the container. The container is closed not only to prevent the coins from accidentally falling out, but also to protect it against unauthorized access. To fill and remove the coins, the container has a filling opening and a lid for closing the filling opening, which is preferably hinged to the filling opening.

The device according to the invention can be sealed, for example, by means of an adhesive seal over at least a section of the gap in the edge of the lid above the filling opening, and as a closed, stable container with a handle, it represents a safe and inexpensive way of transporting coins, which makes unauthorized intervention easy to detect - particularly due to the inherent stability of the container material. The carrying device according to the invention therefore advantageously prevents coins from being removed without a trace and then only with difficulty.

An additional security in this sense is provided by a preferred embodiment of the invention, in which the carrying case covers the lid as completely as possible when the container is inserted into the carrying case. In order to secure the container against accidental slipping out and unauthorized removal from the carrying case,

the carrying case can have a safety recess in the area of an opening through which the container can be inserted into the carrying case, which locks the container in the carrying case and which can be additionally secured, for example, by an adhesive seal. The safety recess can, for example, be designed as an inwardly folded section in the area of a long edge of the carrying case and will be described in more detail later with reference to the attached drawings.

The carrying device according to the invention is particularly preferably stackable in that its outer shape has plane-parallel outer surfaces between which the center of gravity of the device lies (even when filled). This is ensured, for example, in a preferred embodiment of the carrying device according to the invention with a cuboid-shaped container which is folded from a piece of flat material with four rectangular wall sections arranged next to one another and folded at right angles to one another, the fourth of which is connected to the first via a connecting tab (e.g. glued or stapled). These four wall sections therefore form the side walls of the cuboid, and a rectangular base section is then folded at right angles from the lower edge of one of the wall sections and connected to the lower edges of the other wall sections via a connecting tab (also e.g. glued or stapled). In particular, if the connecting tabs are hinged to the wall sections and are attached from below to the bottom section that is folded inwards as the bottom surface, this design provides a high level of protection against unauthorized removal without leaving a trace, because it is almost impossible to access the container without destroying the connection or the material. This design can be made particularly advantageously from cardboard.

A preferred embodiment of the tubular carrying case is also folded from a piece of flat material, preferably cardboard. The embodiment has sections folded away from one another along parallel edges, namely three wall sections that are lined up next to one another and folded away from one another essentially at right angles, the middle section of which forms a base, and at the ends of the row of

Wall sections each have a cover section folded at an obtuse angle. The two cover sections, which continue the series of wall sections at both ends, abut each other with their edges opposite the fold edge and thus close the tubular shape to form a house with a gable roof, with the middle of the wall sections forming the floor, the two outer wall sections forming the two long side walls of the house and finally the deck sections adjoining them forming the gable roof of the house. In addition, this embodiment of the invention has carrying sections which lie on top of each other at the abutting edges of the deck sections, folded upwards from the "ridge" of the gable roof (i.e. away from the interior of the tubular shape) - preferably in three layers in total. The carrying handle is then formed there, preferably as a cutout that leads through the folded layers to reach through.

To prevent the support sections lying on top of one another from unfolding, at least one additional securing hole can be drilled through them, e.g. in the form of an elongated opening, through which a securing tab can be inserted, which is e.g. hinged to one of the support sections.

The lid preferably also has a plug-in tab, which can be inserted into a slot in the complementary edge of the filling opening as a closure. The plug-in tab can in turn be held in place by a securing tab, which, hinged to the complementary edge of the filling opening, can be inserted into a securing slot in the plug-in tab. In particular in the area of the securing and/or plug-in tab, the closure of the filling opening by the lid can preferably be secured by means of an adhesive seal, which is applied at least over a section of the gap between the edge of the closed lid and the edge of the opening.

In order to further protect against unauthorized access to the container without leaving a trace, a collar is preferably attached along the edge of the filling opening, which

can be folded inwards under the lid. In order to prevent interference in the area of the corners of the filling opening, the collar is preferably also continuous around the corner and has folding edges starting from the corner and running along the edge of the collar to make it easier to fold inwards.

For subdivision and stiffening, an insert made of flat material folded in a meandering shape is preferably inserted into the interior of the container in such a way that surface sections of the insert rest against the inner walls of the container, while other surface sections of the insert run transversely through the interior.

In order to protect the base area or connecting edges in the area of the side walls of the container or the security recesses against unauthorized access without leaving a trace, adhesive seals can be applied over at least a section of a gap or a folded edge.

Figure 1 shows a carrying device 2 for transporting coins with a cuboid-shaped container 4 and a tubular carrying case 6.

The upper side 8 of the cuboid-shaped container 4 is designed as a lid 8, which is hinged to an upper edge 10 of a lateral wall section 12 of the container 4 by a fold.

The carrying case 6 has three wall sections 14, 16, 18 arranged in a row, which are folded essentially at right angles to one another, the middle section 16 of which forms a base. At the end edges of the row of wall sections 14, 16, 18, corner sections 20, 22 are folded upwards at an obtuse angle and form the shape of a gable roof with their abutting edges 28 opposite the folded edges 24, 26. Overall, the wall sections 14, 16, 18 and the cover sections 20, 22 arranged in a row form the cylindrical tubular profile of the carrying case 6, into which the cuboid-shaped container is inserted. The cuboid-shaped container 4 rests on the wall section 16, which forms the base, and is held laterally by the wall sections 14 and 18, against which the container 4 rests over its entire surface. The container is secured against slipping out of the carrying case 6 by safety recesses 30, which will be explained later with reference to Figure 4.

For carrying, the carrying cover 6 is extended at the edges 28 of the deck sections 20, 22 by carrying sections 34, 36, 38, which are folded upwards onto one another from the gable roof shape of the deck sections 20, 22. The carrying section 36 is folded upwards from the deck section 20, while the carrying sections 34 and 38 are attached to the deck section 22, of which the carrying section 34 is folded from one side against the carrying section 36 on the deck section 20 and the carrying section 38 is folded from the other side against the carrying section 36. This creates a three-layer carrying area made up of carrying sections 34, 36, 38, projecting upwards along the ridge edge between the deck sections 20, 22, through which a cutout 40 is formed as a carrying handle. To prevent the three carrying sections 34, 36, 38 from unfolding, a securing tab 42 is inserted through an opening which runs flush through all three.

If the container 4 is now filled with heavy coins and a carrier grasps and lifts the carrying device 2 through the handle opening 40, the weight of the container 4 flows in accordance with the material through the slanted cover sections 20, 22 of the carrying case 6 into the stable three-layer handle area made up of the folded carrying sections 34, 36, 38, while the carrying case with the three wall sections 14, 16, 18 securely encloses and holds the container 4. Due to its weight, the container 4 is clamped between the side wall sections 14, 18, while an insert (not shown) in the container 4 with stiffening sections across its interior between the side walls of the container ensures that it does not dent.

Looking at Figure 2, the container 4 is shown open. Clearly visible is a collar 44 which is hinged along the edge 46 of the filling opening 48 to the wall sections 50, 52 and 54 bordering the filling opening 48. The collar 44 is also continuous across the corners of the walls 50, 52, 54 with folding edges 56 extending from the respective corner to the collar edge. The lid 8 is hinged to the fourth 1 2 of the lateral wall sections 1 2, 50, 52, 54 and covers the entire upper surface of the cuboid-shaped container 4 and thus the filling opening 48. The collar 44 can be folded inwards under the lid 8 to prevent unauthorized access to the container 4 without leaving a trace when the lid 8 is closed.

For security, a plug-in tab 58 is hinged to the lid 8, which, when the lid 8 is closed, acts as a closure in a plug-in slot 60 in the complementary edge 46 of the filling opening 48. To secure this plug-in closure 58, 60, a securing tab 62 is formed in the area of the plug-in slot 60, which can be inserted into a securing slot 64 in the plug-in tab 58 when the closure 58, 60 is closed.

By using a piece of cardboard as shown in Figure 4 for folding the carrying case 6 as shown in Figure 1, the spatial configuration of container 4 and carrying case 6 can be further clarified and made clearer.

With regard to Figure 3, the container 4 according to Figure 1 and Figure 2 can be folded from a piece of cardboard 66. There, the four rectangular side wall sections 12, 50, 52 and 54 are connected to one another by parallel folding edges 68, 70, 72, and the fourth wall section 54 can be glued or stapled to the first wall section 12 via a connecting tab 74, for example. The lid 8 with the plug-in tab 58 and securing slot 64 and the collar 44 are hinged along the edge 46 to the walls 12, 50, 52 and 54. The folding edges 56 in the collar 44 extend from the corners of the edge 48. The plug-in slot 60 with the securing tab 62 is formed in the region of the edge 48 of the wall section 52 that is complementary to the lid 8. The base 76 of the container 4 is hinged to the lower edge 78 of the wall section 12 by a rectangular base section 76 the size of the entire base area of the cuboid-shaped container 4. When the walls 12, 50, 52 and 54 are first joined together to form a ring via the connecting tab 74 during the construction of the container 4, the base section 76 is first folded at right angles into the base area of the interior of the container 4 thus created, and the base tabs 80 are then folded from the outside against the base section 76 on the underside. Glued to the base section 76 only at the adhesive areas 84 of the base tabs 80 separated by base folding edges 82, the container 4 according to the invention can be folded flat for storage in an extremely space-saving manner.

With regard to Figure 4, the carrying case according to Figure 1 can be folded from a piece of cardboard 86, which is divided by parallel edges into three wall sections 14, 16, 18, two cover sections 20, 22 and three carrying sections 34, 36, 38. The sections 20, 18, 16, 14, 22 folded in sequence form the tubular area of the carrying case 6, which according to Figure 1 is the container

4, the cover surfaces 20, 22 taking on the shape of a gable roof, and the support sections 34, 36, 38 folded upwards from the "ridge" of the gable roof and then lying on top of one another (the support sections 34, 38 on the cover section 22 lying around the support section 36 on the cover section 20) form the three-layer support area through which the handle opening 40 passes. The securing tabs 42, which are hinged to the outermost support section 38, are also threaded through openings 88 through the support section in order to prevent it from unfolding. The securing indentations 30 can be seen here as surface sections which are delimited in the area of the lower longitudinal edges 90 of the carrying cover 6 by cuts 92 running at right angles through the longitudinal edges 90. The distance between the cuts 92 and thus between the protuberances 30 along a lower longitudinal edge 90 of the carrying case 4 is just slightly larger than the length of the cuboid-shaped container 4 in this area (i.e. the width of the side walls 12, 52), and thus the cuboid-shaped container 4 is prevented from slipping out of the carrying case 4 by the securing protuberances 30.

Claims (17)

1. Carrying device for transporting coins, characterized in that the device (2) has - a closed container (4) for holding the coins, which is folded from inherently stable flat material (66) with a filling opening (48) with a lid (8) for closing the filling opening (48), and - a carrying case (6) made of a flat material (86) in the form of a straight cylindrical tube with an inner tube profile into which the closed container (4) can be inserted, and with a carrying handle (40). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the carrying cover (6) is also folded from the inherently stable flat material (86). 3. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the inherently stable flat material (66, 86) is cardboard, in particular laminated cardboard with a layer of corrugated cardboard. 4. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by an outer shape with plane-parallel outer surfaces (14, 18), between which the center of gravity of the device (2) lies. 5. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the container (4) is folded in a cuboid shape from a piece of flat material (66) with - four rectangular wall sections (12, 50, 52, 54) arranged in a row and folded at right angles to one another, the fourth (54) of which is connected to the first (12) via a connecting strap (74) and with - a rectangular base section (76) the size of the entire base area, which is folded at a right angle from the lower edge (78) of one (12) of the wall sections and is connected to the lower edges of the remaining wall sections (50, 52, 54) via a connecting base tab (80) in each case. 6. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the tubular carrying cover (6) is folded from a piece of flat material (86) with along parallel edges folded from one another - three wall sections (14, 16, 18) arranged in a row and folded essentially at right angles to one another, the middle section (16) of which forms a base, - two cover sections (20, 22) folded at an obtuse angle at the ends (24, 261 of the row of wall sections (14, 16, 18), which close the tubular shape with their edge (28) opposite the folded edge (124, 26) abutting against one another and thereby forming the shape of a gable roof, and - carrying sections (34, 36, 38) which lie on top of one another on the edges (28) of the deck sections (20, 22) opposite the folding edge (24, 26), folded upwards from the ridge (28) of the gable roof, and on which the carrying handle (40) is formed. 7. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the carrying handle is designed as a cutout (40) in a region of the carrying case (6) where several layers (34, 36, 38) of flat material lie on top of one another. 8. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the carrying case (6) covers the lid (8) of the container (4) inserted into the carrying case. 9. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that in the plug-in direction of the container (4), the carrying cover (6) is longer than the container, with at least one securing recess (30) at a plug-in opening of the carrying cover (6). 10. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lid (8) is hinged to the filling opening (48). 11. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the lid (8) has a plug-in tab (58) as a closure and the complementary edge (46) of the filling opening (48) has a plug-in slot (60) for the plug-in tab (58). 12. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by a collar (44) along the edge (46) of the filling opening (48). 13. Device according to claim 12, characterized in that the collar (44) is hinged to the wall (50, 52, 54) surrounding the filling opening (48). 14. Device according to claim 13, characterized in that the collar (44) is continuous along the wall (50, 52, 54) also around corners with folded edges (56) extending from the corner to the collar edge. 15. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by an insert folded in a meandering shape from the flat material with sections lying flat on the inner walls of the container for stiffening and dividing the container. 16. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by an adhesive seal over at least a portion of the gap between the edge of the closed lid and the complementary wall, in particular in the region of the insertion tab. 17. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by an adhesive seal over at least a portion of a gap between surfaces of the flat material.
