Roller shutter box

The innovation relates to a roller shutter box according to the generic term of protection claim 1.

The aim of the innovation is to demonstrate a roller shutter box that can be manufactured particularly inexpensively.

To solve this problem, a roller shutter box is designed according to claim 1.

A special feature of the new roller shutter box is that the part of the roller shutter box that delimits the interior of the box is made up of at least two parts, namely the box element, which has a recess that forms the interior of the roller shutter box and is open across the entire width on the underside, and an additional element, for example a closure element that reduces the opening of the recess on the underside of the roller shutter box. The two-part design makes it possible to produce at least the box element and the closure element in a particularly simple and inexpensive way by extrusion, with the projections and associated recesses or depressions for connecting the two parts being produced by subsequent, further processing. Another special feature is the modular structure of the roller shutter box.

Further developments of the innovation are the subject of the subclaims. The innovation is explained in more detail below using the figures and exemplary embodiments. They show:

The roller shutter box shown in Figures 1 - 4 and generally designated 1 therein consists essentially of two plates 2 and 3, which are arranged in vertical planes when the roller shutter box 1 is installed and of which plate 2 faces the outside of the building and plate 3 faces the inside of the building. The plates 2 and 3, which each extend over the entire height and length of the roller shutter box 1, are made of a load-bearing plastic material, for example PU. Recycled plastic is also particularly suitable as a material.

Between the two plates 2 and 3, which are arranged parallel to one another and at a distance from one another, there is a box element or core 4 which is essentially U-shaped and consists of a foamed, heat-insulating plastic material, for example rigid foam, e.g. polystyrene rigid foam. The two legs 4' of the core 4, which is U-shaped in cross section, are connected to one another via a yoke section 4" which forms the top of the roller shutter box 1. A plate 2 or 3 is attached to the outside of the legs 4', for example by gluing.

On the inside, the core 4 forms a recess 5 with a cross-section that is arch-like, the boundary surface of which is concave on the top side of the roller shutter box, i.e. in the area of the yoke section 4", and in the embodiment shown is concavely curved in a circular-cylindrical manner, and then runs flat towards the free ends of the legs 4'. The recess 5 forms the interior of the roller shutter box 1, in which (interior) the roller shutter shaft is housed in the usual way, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the roller shutter box 1, i.e. in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing in Figure 1 and is indicated in Figure 1 with 6, which is rotatably mounted at both ends of the roller shutter box in end walls or covers (not shown).

The recess 5 is closed on the underside of the roller shutter box by a wedge or closure element 7 extending over the entire length of the roller shutter box, except for a slot-shaped opening 8, which also extends in a known manner over the entire length of the roller shutter box 1 and serves to lead the roller shutter panel out of the interior formed by the recess 5. The closure element 7 also consists of a heat-insulating, foamed plastic material, for example a rigid plastic foam, e.g. polystyrene rigid foam.

The connection between the closure element 7 and the leg 4' adjacent to the plate 3 is realized in that the closure element 7, with molded-on strip-like projections 9, positively engages groove-shaped recesses 10 adapted to the cross section of these projections on the inner surface of the relevant leg 4' facing the recess 5. As shown in particular in Figure 3, the closure element 7 has a plurality of grooves 10 which follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the closure element. A plurality of projections is also provided accordingly.

a dovetail-shaped cross-section. The strip-like projections 9 extend in an axial direction perpendicular or transverse to the longitudinal axis of the roller shutter box 1 parallel to the planes of the plates 2 and 3. The projections 9 are correspondingly oriented with their longitudinal extension perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the closure element 7 and perpendicular to the plane of the underside 11 of this closure element. The grooves 10 are each open towards the recess 5 and also towards the free end of the relevant leg 4', so that in order to fasten the closure element 7, this can be pushed with its projections 9 into the grooves 10 from the underside of the roller shutter box, in such a way that the plane of the underside 11 is at the same level as the planes of the lower, free edges of the roller shutter box 1, which are formed by the ends of the legs 4' and the lower edge of the adjacent plate 2 or 3.

The dovetail-shaped projections 9 and the associated grooves 10 provide a positive connection between the closure element 7 and the core 4, for example by means of a clamp fit. In addition, an adhesive connection can also be provided.

On the inner or upper side 12, the closure element 7 is curved concavely or as a circular cylindrical surface around the axis of the roller shutter shaft 6, with a radius of curvature that is equal to the radius of curvature of the rounded upper boundary of the recess 5. Furthermore, the closure element 7 is provided on the underside 11 with a recess 13 that is open towards this underside and also at the transition 14 between the upper side 12 and the lower side 11 that delimits the opening 8 on one side. As is also shown, the distance between the upper side 12 and the lower side 11 decreases towards this transition 14, resulting in an approximately wedge-shaped cross-sectional shape for the closure element 7.

The recess 13, which can also be designed as a groove, serves for connection to the frame or the outer frame or to the relevant profile of a building window or a building window door.

The roller shutter box 1 can be manufactured particularly inexpensively. This is particularly true for the core 4 with the closure element 7. Both the core 4 and the closure element 7 can be manufactured in a particularly simple manner by extrusion, whereby after manufacture the grooves 10 are machined into the core 4 and the appropriate projections 9 are machined into the closure element 7 using a suitable tool.

Plaster strips or holders for clip-on plaster strips can be provided on the lower edges of the panels 2 and 3 or on the lower edges of the legs 4' which are provided at the same level as these.

The projections 9 and the associated grooves 10 are designed in such a way that when the projections 9 are pushed into the grooves 10, the projections become increasingly jammed in the grooves, i.e. the grooves 10 have, for example, a width that reduces the distance from the underside of the roller shutter box 1. The projections 9 are adapted accordingly.

Figure 5 shows a further possible embodiment of a roller shutter box 1a, which differs from the roller shutter box 1 in that the plate 3, which forms the side of the box facing the interior of the building when the roller shutter box is in use, can be attached to the base element or core 4a or to an intermediate piece 19 of the roller shutter box 1a by being attached. The plate 3a corresponds to the plate 3 of the roller shutter box 1. The attachment is achieved by providing the class 3 on one side with dovetail-shaped projections 15 corresponding to the projections 9, which run in an axial direction perpendicular to the bottom and top of the roller shutter box 1a and are arranged one after the other at predetermined intervals in the longitudinal direction 1a of the roller shutter box.

Recesses or grooves 18 with a dovetail profile corresponding to the projections 15 are provided on the side of the core 4a or the intermediate piece 19 facing away from the plate 2, in such a way that when the plate 3a is pushed on, each projection 15 is received in a form-fitting manner in a groove 18. The grooves 18 are in turn designed such that their width decreases starting from the top of the roller shutter box 1a or vice versa starting from the bottom of this roller shutter box, so that with a preferably corresponding design of the projection 15, the plate 3a is held by pushing on from above or from below by the projections 15 which are inserted in a form-fitting manner into the grooves 18 and anchored in them by clamping.

As is also shown in Figure 5, the plate 3a is not attached directly to the core 4a, but to the additional element 19, which is preferably made of the same material as the core 4a, namely from the heat-insulating material, for example heat-insulating plastic material, e.g. rigid foam (e.g. Styrofoam resin foam) and which increases the cross-section of the roller shutter box. The additional element 19, which extends over the entire length of the roller shutter box or core 4a, has a rectangular cross-section in the embodiment shown and serves, among other things, to adapt the width of the roller shutter box 1a to the wall thickness of a building and/or to increase the heat and sound insulation of the roller shutter box. The additional element 19 extends over the entire height of the roller shutter box. The connection between the core 4a and the additional element 19 is also made via the projections 15 provided on the additional element 19 and the grooves 18 provided on the core 4a. This means that the additional element 19 has the projections 15 on one side and a groove 18 opposite each projection 15 on the other side. The core 4a also has the grooves 18 on its side facing away from the plate 2.

Of course, it is possible to modify the roller shutter box 1a in such a way that the additional element 19 is removed and the plate 3a is then directly attached to the

Figure 6 shows a roller shutter box 1b as a possible further embodiment, which differs from the roller shutter box 1a in that two additional parts 19 are provided which adjoin one another and are connected to one another via the projections 15 and the associated grooves 18, as well as a further, somewhat narrower additional part 20 which in turn has the projections 15 on one side and the grooves 18 on the other side and is held with its projections 15 on the adjacent additional part 19, while the outer plate 3a engages with its projections 15 in the grooves 18 of the additional part 20.

As Figures 5 and 6 show, a modular construction of the roller shutter box 1a or 1b from the base part or core 4 and corresponding additional elements 19 and 20 is thus possible, whereby, for example, in the case of the roller shutter box 1b, instead of the succession of additional elements 19 and 20, it is also possible to provide a single additional element which has the corresponding width in an axial direction perpendicular to the plates 2 and 3a.

It was assumed above that the closure element 7, the plate 3a and the additional elements 19 and 20 are each fixed to the adjacent element by clamping the projections 9 and 15 in the grooves 10 and 18. In addition to this or instead of this, an adhesive connection is also possible, in particular by gluing the projections in the associated grooves.

It was assumed above that the box element or core 4a and the additional elements 19 and 20 are each made of the same material. It is of course also possible to use different materials with different properties for these elements, for example with different thermal insulation and sound insulation properties, with the additional elements in particular

can also be optimally selected in terms of their material and thus their properties according to the respective application.

Figure 9 shows, in a representation similar to Figure 1, as a further possible embodiment, a roller shutter box 1c which differs from the roller shutter box 1 in that instead of the wedge or closure element 7, a wedge or closure element 7c is provided which is provided on its underside facing away from the roller shutter box interior or the receptacle 5 with a plate 21 made of a harder plastic material, for example PU. The plate 21 is connected in a suitable manner, for example by gluing, to the wedge or closure element 7c made of heat-insulating material, i.e. a foamed, heat-insulating plastic material, for example rigid foam or polystyrene rigid foam, in such a way that the underside of the plate 21, when the wedge or closure element 7c is mounted, lies in a plane with the lower edges of the outer plates 2 and 3. The plate 21 extends over the entire length of the roller shutter box 1c and covers the wedge or locking element 7c over its entire width.

The roller shutter box 1c also differs from the roller shutter box 1 in that two profiles 22 and 23 are embedded in the material of the wedge or closure element 7c, each of which has its longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roller shutter box 1c and extends over the entire length of the wedge or closure element 7c. The profiles 22 and 23, which are made of plastic, preferably by extrusion, have the same cross-sectional design in the embodiment shown, i.e. each profile consists of two strip or plate-shaped profile sections 24 and 25, which are arranged parallel and at a distance from one another and are connected to one another in the middle of the respective profile by two webs 26. The webs 26 are in turn spaced apart from one another and arranged parallel to one another, in planes perpendicular to the planes of the profile sections 24 and 25. The webs 26, together with parts of the profile sections 24 and 25, form a profile extending over the entire length of the respective profile.

Furthermore, the profile 22 or 23 is designed symmetrically to a center plane which encloses the longitudinal extension of the profile 22 or 23, is provided in the middle between the webs 26 and parallel to them.

The profiles 24 and 25 are embedded in the material of the wedge or closure element 7c in such a way that, in the case of the profile 23, the profile section 25 with its side facing away from the profile section 24 is arranged at the same level as the surface of the wedge or closure element 7c adjoining the inner surface of the leg 4 in the case of the profile 25 and at the same level as the underside of this element in the case of the profile 22, to which (the underside) the plate 21 is connected. The profiles 22 and 23 are used for screwing. The wedge or closure element 7c is connected to the leg 4' via the profile 23 and corresponding screws 27. In order to define the exact position of the element 7c, the inner surface of the leg 4' has a shoulder 28 which forms a support for the element 7c when it is in the correct position.

The profile 22 serves to connect the element 7c or the roller shutter box 1c with the frame or cover frame 29 of a building window or a building door, of which this frame 29 and the sash 30 are partially shown.

The innovation has been described above using exemplary embodiments. It is understood that numerous changes and modifications are possible without thereby departing from the inventive concept underlying the innovation.

Claims (19)

1. Roller shutter box with a box element ( 4a ) made at least partially from a heat-insulating material, which forms an interior space ( 5 ) for receiving the roller shutter shaft ( 6 ), characterized in that at least one additional part ( 7 , 7c , 19 , 20 ) is attached to the box element by plugging on and/or by screwing on. 2. Roller shutter box according to claim 1, characterized in that at least one plate and/or an additional part ( 19 , 20 ) enlarging the cross-section of the roller shutter box is attached to at least one side of the box element by being plugged on and/or screwed on. 3. Roller shutter box according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the interior ( 5 ) for receiving the roller shutter shaft ( 6 ) on the underside of the box element is closed by a closure element ( 7 ) extending from a side wall ( 4 ') of the box element except for a slot-shaped opening ( 8 ), the width of which is smaller than the width of the interior ( 5 ) in the same cross-sectional axis, and that the closure element ( 7 ) forming the additional part and the box element ( 4 ) are connected to one another via first recesses ( 10 ) on the box element ( 4 ) and/or on the closure element and first projections on the closure element ( 7 ) and/or on the box element ( 4 ) which engage in these recesses in a form-fitting manner. 4. Roller shutter box according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the plate and/or the additional part ( 19 , 20 ) enlarging the cross-section of the roller shutter box are connected to one another via second recesses ( 18 ) in the box element ( 4a ) and/or in the additional element ( 19 , 20 ) and second projections ( 15 ) on the additional element ( 19 , 20 ) and/or on the box element ( 4a ) which engage in a form-fitting manner in these second recesses ( 18 ). 5. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the box element ( 4 , 4a ) is made of a heat-insulating material, preferably of foamed plastic, for example of polystyrene rigid foam, at least in its area surrounding the interior ( 5 ). 6. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a plate ( 2 , 3 , 3a ) is provided on at least two opposite sides of the roller shutter box ( 4 , 4a ). 7. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first and/or second recesses are grooves ( 10 , 18 ) forming undercuts. 8. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first and/or second projections ( 9 , 15 ) are strip-shaped projections forming undercuts. 9. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the grooves and projections each have a dovetail profile. 10. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first grooves ( 10 ) are open towards the inside of the box element ( 4 , 4a ) and towards its underside. 11. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first and/or second grooves and projections are arranged with their longitudinal extension transversely or perpendicularly to the longitudinal extension of the roller shutter box. 12. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the additional element ( 19 , 20 ) extends over the entire length and height of the roller shutter box or the box element ( 4a ). 13. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one additional element ( 19 , 20 ) has second projections and second recesses ( 18 ) on two opposite sides. 14. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one plate ( 3a ) is held on the box element ( 4a ) and/or on the additional element ( 19 , 20 ) via second projections ( 15 ) and/or recesses ( 18 ) provided on the plate and corresponding recesses ( 18 ) and/or projections ( 15 ). 15. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one additional element ( 19 , 20 ) and the box element ( 4a ) are made of the same material. 16. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the at least one additional element ( 19 , 20 ) and the box element ( 4a ) are made of different materials, in particular of materials with different properties. 17. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least one screw profile ( 22 , 23 ) is embedded in the additional part ( 7c ) or in its material. 18. Roller shutter box according to claim 17, characterized in that the additional part is the closure element ( 7c ), and that this closure element is held on the box element by screwing via the profile ( 24 , 25 ). 19. Roller shutter box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the profile ( 22 ) serves for screwing the roller shutter box to a frame or cover frame ( 29 ) of a building window and/or a building door.
