The safety holder for brake disc locks (SHB) Description A.: Problem

More and more motorcycle and scooter drivers are using a brake disc lock to protect their vehicle from theft. This has often led to avoidable accidents because the driver forgot to remove the lock from the brake disc before setting off. Or it was improperly installed on and in the vehicle, leading to dangerous malfunctions in the vehicle's technology (brakes, steering, electrics). It is also not very pleasant to constantly have to fumble the lock in and out of your luggage or clothing, and you often don't have it with you when you need it.

The described problem was solved by the invention according to claim 1 as follows.

The SHB can be mounted on all conventional motorcycles and scooters and is used to accommodate brake disc locks, especially in conjunction with alarm and warning systems.

The safety holder (Fig. 1 Pos. 1) can be screwed or attached to all conventional motorcycles using a clamp or directly with installed parts. Depending on the type of motorcycle, the SHB is attached to the rubber bearing and the spacer bushing (Fig. 1 Pos. 3 and 4) with or without angled or straight flat steel using a self-locking screw connection. When attaching to the vehicle technology, it is important to ensure that screw connections are made in different strength classes and may only be replaced with equivalent screws and nuts, taking the minimum screw-in depth into account. Care must be taken to ensure that moving parts can move freely.

The SHB was designed in such a way that it holds the lock body in a form-fitting manner and deprives it of all degrees of freedom when the brake disc lock is engaged.

The lock can only be pushed open from one side (Fig.l). When the lock is closed, the locking bolt (Fig.2 Pos.6) slides through the hole in the SHB (Fig.l Pos.5) and thus locks positively.

The SHB can be equipped with electronic or mechanical sensors which, in conjunction with safety electronics, emit acoustic and optical warning signals.

If the lock is still on the brake disc when the driver tries to start the machine, a signal will sound when the ignition is switched on and the machine will not start.

In order to prevent vibrations that could destroy not only the SHB but also the locking mechanism in the lock (e.g. when mounted on off-road motorcycles), a rubber bearing (Fig.l Pos.3) and a spacer bush (Fig.l Pos.4) were included in the design.

Q: Security

By integrating the lock into the motorcycle using SHB, the brake disc lock never has to be carried in clothing or luggage.
This avoids additional risk of injury in the event of a traffic accident.
Losing the lock body while driving is impossible when the lock is locked.
By rounding off all edges, the risk of injury from the SHB is eliminated.

G.: Materials used

Suitable materials include aluminum, aluminum injection molding, steel with plastic coating, shatter-proof and high-strength plastics.
