Das Charakteristische der Pinselconstruction besteht in der Befestigung (Verschlufs, Fassung) der Borsten vermittelst Keils, wodurch die allen älteren Pinselconstructionen eigenthümliche Bindfadenumwicklung (der Fadenbund) entbehrlich gemacht und zugleich eine vorzügliche Haltbarkeit des Pinsels erzielt wird.The characteristic of the brush construction consists in the attachment (closure, setting) the bristles act by means of a wedge, whereby the wrapping of string peculiar to all older brush constructions (the thread bundle) made dispensable and at the same time an excellent durability of the brush is achieved.

Der Keil K wird mit Hebeldruck durch das in die Metallhülse h gefafste, unten mit Pech getränkte Borstenbündel in den Pinselstiel bis an den spund- oder halbkugelförmigen Kopf eingetrieben; der Druck, den der letztere gegen die Wand der Hülse ausübt, hält die Borsten so fest, dafs jedes weitere Bindemittel überflüssig wird und die Fertigstellung des Pinsels mit dieser Procedur abgeschlossen ist. Die auf der Hirnseite des Pinselstiels ia und des Keils 2a bemerkbaren Bohrlöcher sind Vorkehrungen gegen das Quellen des Holzes nach aufsen und gegen das hierdurch mögliche Platzen der Metallhülse.
