Abstract

The present invention provides a packaging and applicator device and method of manufacture thereof, the packaging and applicator device comprising: a bottle having a threaded neck; and an applicator comprising: a handle; an applicator at the first end; and a cap supporting the handle at a second end of the handle opposite the first end, the cap including a threaded portion configured to screw onto the neck. The closure includes a ring which is releasably connected to the threaded portion and arranged to remain fixed on the neck during removal of the applicator.

Packaging and applicator device and method of manufacture

technical field

The present invention relates to a packaging and applicator device for cosmetics, including care products, especially but not exclusively those for applying nail polish to the nails.

Background technique

Nail polish bottles are available in the market in a variety of volumes, typically ranging from 7 milliliters (ml) to 14 ml. A related applicator device includes a handle with a brush at one end and a cap with a threaded portion.

For larger bottles such as 12ml or more, the height of the bottle body allows the use of a longer handle. Conversely, for smaller bottles, due to the smaller height of the bottle body, the length of the handle is required to be shortened, or the length of the bristles must be shortened, which will result in reduced flexibility and quality when applying; or the need to increase the length of the bottle neck. length, which spoils the appearance.

For easier application, it needs to have relatively long hairs and the visible length of the handle is not too short.

Contents of the invention

A package and applicator device according to the present invention comprises, in an exemplary embodiment:

a bottle having a threaded neck; and

A cover supporting the handle at a second end of the handle opposite the first end, said cover including a threaded portion arranged to be screwed onto the neck.

In a first aspect of the invention, the closure may comprise a ring releasably connected to the threaded portion and arranged to remain fixed on the neck during removal of the applicator.

With the ring on the bottom of the neck, the visible length of the handle plus applicator of the present invention can be quite long without spoiling the bottle's appearance. Furthermore, the ring can be mounted in a rather easy and cheap manner after the bottle has been filled.

It is also possible to manufacture the ring and the threaded part in such a way that when the applicator is mounted on the bottle, the closure manufactured as a single part gives a good impression from the outside.

The term "threaded portion" should be broadly understood to correspond to that portion of the closure which comprises at least one thread which may be provided at a suitable location on an insert secured within an outer cover. In this case, the ring may be releasably connected to the insert or the outer cover.

The ring is optionally threaded.

In an exemplary embodiment, the ring may have at least one first portion in relief enabling it to be snapped onto at least one second portion formed on the neck. The second raised portion may have, for example, an annular bead and the first raised portion may have annular beads or serrations projecting from the radially inner surface of the ring.

The ring may also have at least one raised portion which frictionally retains the ring on the neck.

In a representative embodiment, the ring can have multiple bonds on its inner surface.

The ring and the threaded portion may be manufactured integral or non-integral.

Advantageously, the ring can be made with at least a part of the threaded portion by molding plastics material, in particular when the threaded portion comprises an insert and an outer cover and the ring is made with the outer cover. The ring may be connected to the threaded portion by a breakable bridge of material.

For example, the ring can be provided on the threaded part, fitted therewith, the threaded part and the ring being produced in different moulds. As an example, the ring may have a raised portion enabling it to cooperate with the threaded portion by mutual engagement. The ring therefore does not necessarily have to be connected to the threaded portion by a bridge of breakable material.

When the ring and the threaded portion are not integrally formed, they may be connected to each other by friction, snap-fastening, welding or sticking.

The ring and the threaded portion can also be connected to each other by other fastening means.

The neck can have at least one first anti-rotation raised portion and the ring can have at least one second anti-rotated raised portion arranged to engage with the first raised portion to prevent rotation when the cap is unscrewed. When the threaded portion is separated from the ring, the ring rotates relative to the neck.

The first raised portion on the bottle may be arranged to allow the second raised portion to pass over the closure when the closure is initially secured to the bottle. At least one of the first and second raised portions may include a slope to facilitate passing over each other.

By clamping the ring on the neck, rotation around the neck can be prevented, especially when the ring has a key on its inner surface.

The neck has a surface on its bottom, which is cylindrical or flared towards the body of the bottle, on which bottom the ring can withstand a certain clamping force.

The ring can be decorated.

The bottle can be manufactured in various shapes, and in a representative embodiment, has a shoulder on the bottom of the neck.

The bottle can be made of glass or plastic material, and in an exemplary embodiment it can be made of transparent material.

The bottle may have a volume of less than or equal to about 10 ml, such as less than or equal to 8 ml, for example in the range of about 7 ml to about 5 ml.

For example, the visible length of the handle and the applicator can be greater than or equal to about 25 millimeters (mm). When the applicator is a brush, the visible length of the free portion of the bristles may be greater than or equal to about 12mm.

As an example, the bottle may contain a substance for applying nails, such as nail polish. The bottle can also hold substances for applying to the face, such as for applying to the lips. In this case, the bottle may in particular comprise a wiper.

The applicator may be hairy, for example when it is used to apply to the skin or lips.

Detailed ways

The packaging and applicator device 1 shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises a bottle 2, for example made of glass or plastic material, and an applicator 3, comprising a handle 4, at the bottom end of which is provided an applicator 5, such as a brush, Its top end is then connected to a cover 6 comprising a threaded portion 7 and a bottom ring 8 .

According to one aspect of the invention, when the applicator 3 is first placed on the bottle 2, the ring 8 is initially fixed on the threaded portion 7.

From FIG. 6 the two parts are connected by one or more bridges 13 of frangible material. As can be seen from this figure, the bridging material 13 is radially retracted from the outer surface 19 of the ring 8 in order to avoid spoiling the appearance of the lid.

Another embodiment will now be described with reference to FIGS. 9 to 12 , wherein the closure comprises an insert 40 and an outer cover 41 in which the insert 40 can be secured.

The insert 40 has an internal thread 42 for its screwing onto the neck 10 and a cavity 43 enabling the top end 44 of the handle 4 to be fixed to the insert 40 .

The handle has a collar 45 for abutting against the end edge of the neck 10 when the insert 40 is screwed to the end, sealing the bottle 2 in a leak-proof manner.

The outer cover 41 is arranged on its radially inner surface with axial keys 48 for clamping the outer cover 41 to the insert 40 so as to prevent said two parts from moving relative to each other.

In the embodiment described the ring 8 is manufactured in one piece with the outer cover 41 , connected by bridges 13 of frangible material located in line with the keys 48 .

On its inner surface, the ring 8 has an axial key 50 which is located in line with the key 48 and serves as abutment against an enlarged portion 56 located at the bottom of the neck 10 to be able to clamp tightly, preventing the ring 8 from being subsequently moved relative to the Bottle 2 spins.
