Abstract

A weft picker includes a clamp comprising a hook formation lying in a vertical plane and a lever pivoting in a vertical plane about a horizontal axis. One end of the lever locates within the hook formation so that a spring acting on the other end of the lever causes that end to clamp a weft yarn against a portion of the hook formation. The arrangement is used on weft pickers which pick a weft mid-way across the warp and pull it across the remaining region of the warp. The weft picker consistently picks up the weft yarn and holds it securely until the end of the picking operation.
