Abstract

The constituents for the mix are measured out and passed along a screw conveyor. This dry mix is stored and the correct quantity for a casting measured out and mixed with water. The wet mix is then injected by a screw pump into the bottom (23) of a mould. This comprises outer (24, 25, 26) and inner (29, 30, 31) panels, with a space (38) between, forming a complete box shape. Each inner face has a space (27) behind, connected to a compressed air supply (28). As the mix rises in the mould a vacuum pump (33) on top removes the air. When full, the compressed air enters to compact the mix.
