The present invention pertains to carpet and methods for producing carpet. The method includes extruding at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer on the back surface of a primary support to provide an adhesive support. The method may include additional steps or procedures, which separately or in various combinations. Additional steps and procedures include washing or stripping the primary support and fibers prior to the extrusion step, and using implosion agents. The preferred homogeneously branched ethylene polymer is a substantially linear ethylene polymer. The construction and methods described here are particularly suitable for producing wide-luffed, knitted rug having improved abrasion resistance.
