Abstract
Se revelan métodos para un proceso simplificado para preparar carbonato de litio a partir de salmuera de litio concentrada que puede utilizarse para aplicaciones de calidad para baterías, usos farmacéuticos y otras aplicaciones que requieren una calidad de gran pureza. Se precipita carbonato de litio a partir de salmuera concentrada en litio, mediante la adición de cenizas de soda, preferentemente con un contenido reducido en magnesio, subsiguientemente se suspende en solución acuosa y se hace reaccionar con dióxido de carbono de manera de formar bicarbonato de litio disuelto. Se filtran las impurezas insolubles, y el boro y las impurezas metálicas disueltas tales como calcio, magnesio y hierro son separados físicamente de la solución de bicarbonato de litio mediante medios selectivos de iones o mediante otros procesos selectivos. Subsiguientemente, se precipita el carbonato de litio.
