Abstract

Método para la deposicion mejorada de DHA (ácido decosahexnoico) en tejidos de seres humanos o animales mediante la incorporacion de lípidos saludables que contienen ácido estearidonico (SDA) en seres humanos o animales, por medio de la administracion prolongada de alimentos para seres humanos o animales, así como suplementos, y agentes terapéuticos. La deposicion mejorada de DHA mediante el consumo de composiciones comestibles que comprenden ácido estearidonico puede usarse para mejorar numerosos indicadores de la salud y el desarrollo, incluyendo indicadores de la salud del corazon, la funcion y el desarrollo neurologicos, y el índice omega-3 en los tejidos. Reivindicacion 101: Una composicion comestible para el consumo por parte de animales que comprende SDA caracterizada porque dicha composicion comestible se prepara con un método que comprende: a) proveerle un alimento que comprende SDA a un animal, b) extraer un tejido o un fluido que comprende lípidos de dicho animal, c) extraer al menos una porcion de dichos lípidos de dicho tejido o fluido, y d) incorporar al menos una porcion de dichos lípidos en un alimento para seres humanos o animales, un suplemento, o un agente terapéutico que ha de ser consumido por seres humanos o animales.
