Abstract

Un catalizador de conversion de tres vías en capas que tiene la capacidad de catalizar en forma simultánea la oxidacion de hidrocarburos y monoxido de carbono y se describe la reduccion de oxidos de nitrogeno. También se proporcionan un sistema de tratamiento de escape de motores y métodos para su utilizacion. En una o más realizaciones, el catalizador soportado en un portador tiene tres capas, donde por lo menos dos de las capas están provistas de zonas para tener un componente de almacenamiento de oxígeno que está presente en una zona corriente arriba en una cantidad que es inferior al componente de almacenamiento de oxígeno presente en la zona corriente abajo.
