Abstract

La presente invencion proporciona dispositivos y métodos para reducir la variabilidad de recubrimiento de un dispositivo de transferencia por microproyecciones transdermal. El dispositivo tiene una o más microproyecciones para perforar el estrato corneo, teniendo cada microproyeccion un ancho máximo ubicado en la zona de aproximadamente 25% a 75% de la longitud de la microproyeccion y teniendo la microproyeccion un ancho mínimo cercano al ancho máximo. Preferentemente, la microproyeccion tiene un recubrimiento de un agente biologicamente activo que como mínimo se extiende hasta al menos aproximadamente 75% de la distancia desde la punta distal hasta una ubicacion correspondiente al ancho máximo y como máximo se extiende hasta aproximadamente 90% de la longitud de la microproyeccion.
