Abstract
Construccion de ADN que comprende una secuencia codificadora para una proteína KAS que demuestra actividad preferencial por sustratos de ácidos grasos de cadena media de C6:0-ACP, C8:0-ACP y C10:0-ACP. Tales construcciones son utiles para la produccion de plantas modificadas genéticamente que tienen composiciones de ácidos grasos alteradas. Es de especial interés la expresion de factores de proteína sintasa conjuntamente con la expresion de acil-ACP tioesterasas de cadena media vegetales para la produccion de niveles incrementados y/o relaciones modificadas de ácidos grasos de cadena media en aceites de semillas vegetales transgénicas.
