Abstract
Se revelan cepas de Bacillus thuringiensis que comprenden nuevas proteínas cristalinas que tienen actividad insecticida contra insectos coleopteros entre los que se incluyen las larvas del escarabajo colorado de la harina ( Tribolium castaneum) y las larvas del escarabajo japonés (Popillia japonica). También se describen genes de nuevas toxinas cristalinas de B. thuringiensis, que se denominan cryET33 y cryET34, que codifican las proteínas cristalinas toxicas para los coleopteros, la proteína cristalina CryET33 (29-kDa), y el gen cryET34 codifica la proteína cristalina de 14-kDa CryET34. Las proteínas cristalinas cryET33 y cryET34 son toxicas para las larvas del escarabajo colorado de la harina y las larvas del escarabajo japonés. También se revelan métodos de fabricar y usar célula transgénicas que comprenden las nuevas secuencias de ácidos nucleicos de la presente.
