Abstract
Se revelan cepas de Bacillus Thuringiensis que comprenden nuevas proteínas cristalinas que tienen actividad insecticida contra insectos coleopteros entrelos que se incluyen las larvas del escarabajo colorado de la harina (Tribolium castaneum) ylas larvas del escarabajo japonés (Popillia japonica). También sedescriben genes de nuevas toxinas cristalinas de B. thuringiensis, que se denominan cryET33 y cryET34, que codifican las proteínas cristalinas toxicaspara los coleopteros, laproteín a cristalina CryET33 (29-kDa), y el gen cryET34 codifica la proteína cristalina de 14-kDa CryET34. Las proteínas cristalinasCryET33 y CryET34 son toxicas para las larvas del escarabajo colorado de la harina y las larvas del escarabajojaponés. Ta mbién se revelan métodos defabricar y usar células transgénicas que comprenden las nuevas secuencias de ácidos nucleicos.
