Abstract
Materiales esponjosos poliméricos de celdas abiertas, flexibles, micro-porosos con características físicas que los hacen adecuados para unavariedad de usos. Procesos de alta temperatura que tienen tiempos de curacion cortos para preparar tales materiales esponjosos de emulsiones de altafase interna. Se forma una emulsion de agua-en-aceite cuya fase de aceite comprende de 90% a 97% en peso de un componente monomérico capaz de formarun copolímero que tiene un valor de temperatura de transicion devidrio de 15*C a 50*C y de 3 a 10% en peso del componente emulsionante, en tanto que lafase acuosa comprende una solucion acuosa que contiene de 0,2 a 40% en peso de un electrolito soluble en agua y una cantidad eficaz de un iniciador depolimerizacion; teniendo la emulsion una relacion de volumen a peso de la fase acuosa a la fase de aceite de entre 13:1 a 65:1 preferentemente, seprovee un medio para minimizar la volatizacion de los componentes de la emulsion; y se cura el componente monoméricoen la fase de aceite de la emulsionagua-en-aceite utilizando una reaccion de polimerizacion que se realiza a una temperatura de curacion, siendo la temperatura de curacion de entre90*C y 250*C para formar un material esponjoso polimérico. El componente monomérico puede comprender de 40 a 70% en peso de un monomero que se seleccionadel grupo que consiste de acrilatos de alquilo C4-14, acrilatos de arilo, metacrilatos de alquilo C6-16, dienos, estirenos de alquilo C4-12 y mezclasde éstos; de 15 a23% en peso de un co-monomero que se selecciona del grupo que consiste de estireno, estireno de etilo y mezclas de éstos; y de 5 a 18%en peso de benceno de divinilo. La fase acuosa puede comprender de 1 a 40% de cloruro de calcio.
