Abstract

Una preforma de fibra optica que tiene un tubo de substrato, una capa de revestimiento y una capa de nucleo que además incluye una primera capa de barreradepositada por un material que tiene un bajo coeficiente de dispersion de OH entre el tubo de substrato y la capa de revestimiento, en donde la primera capa debarrera tiene por objeto prevenir substancialmente que el OH contenido en el tubo de substrato se disperse hacia la capa de revestimiento. La preforma de fibraoptica además incluye una segunda capa de barrera formada depositando un material que tiene un bajo coeficiente de dispersion de OH entre la capa derevestimiento y la capa de nucleo, a fin de prevenir substancialmente que el OH que se ha dispersado hacia la capa de revestimiento desde el tubo de substratose disperse además hacia la capa de nucleo. Las barreras al OH exterior e interior que no contienen P2O5 se depositan entre el tubo de substrato y la capa derevestimiento y entre la capa de revestimiento y la capa de nucleo en un proceso de deposicion, de modo que pueda prevenirse efectivamente que el OH sedisperse desde el tubo de substrato hacia la capa de nucleo en un proceso de deposicion de nucleo, un proceso de colapso o un proceso de cierre.
