Abstract
La presente invención proporciona métodos y composiciones para la inhibición de la infección de virus en plantas monocotiledóneas susceptibles.Los métodos y las composiciones involucran la producción de formar alteradas en la traducción deuna secuencia de ARN mensajero derivada del virus inhibido.La invención además proporciona información estructural y de organización para el genoma de rasgo B del virus mosaico enano de maíz. Se ensenan los métodospara la inhibición de la infecciónde MDMV-B. Estos métodos incluyen la generación de plantas transformadas que contienen genes quiméricos capaces deexpresar proteínas de MDMV-B o formas de secuencias de ARN mensajero alteradas en la traducción, producidas por MDMV-B.
