Abstract
Det er tilveiebrakt en fremgangsmåte for å simulere en fysisk prosess slik som fluidstrømning i porøse medier ved å utføre en finrutenettberegning av prosessen i et medium og gjenbruke finrutenettløsningen i etterfølgende beregninger for grove rutenett. For fluidstrømning i undergrunnsformasjoner kan fremgangsmåten benyttes for å optimalisere oppskalerte beregningsrutenett dannet fra geologiske modeller. Fremgangsmåten minsker kostnaden av å optimalisere et rutenett for å simulere en fysisk prosess som er matematisk beskrevet av diffusjonsligningen.
