Isolerte nukleinsyrer som koder for T2R76 polypeptider, rekombinant uttrykte T2R76 polypeptider, heterologe ekspresjonssystemer for rekombinant ekspresjon av T2R76 polypeptider, forsøksmetoder ved anvendelse av samme og metoder for å endre smakspersepsjon ved administrering av en T2R76-modulator. Disse T2R76 polypeptider kan uttrykkes alene eller samuttrykkes med et annet T2R polypeptid, fortrinnsvis et forskjellig humant T2R polypeptid.Disse T2R76 polypeptider responderer spesifikt på bitre ligander omfattende brucin og propyltiouracil (PROP) og kan derfor anvendes i forsøk som identifiserer forbindelser som modulerer, fortrinnsvis blokkerer, bitter smak.
