Abstract

Yarn brake consists of two mechanisms in series, one of which is formed by two strips of spring steel, whilst the other has at least one spring steel strip, one end of one spring in each mechanism being attached to a common pivoting guide bracket. Pref. the second mechanism also has two spring steel strips and both mechanisms, together with the pivot, are mounted on a common bracket. Both the free leaf springs in the two brake mechanisms can be adjusted to vary the tension on the weft thread. The weight on the active components is kept to the minimum the low inertia permitting quick response to variations in tension. Irregularities in the weft can thus be reduced to a minimum.
