Abstract

1,245,263. Tensioning device. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. 6 Jan., 1969 [23 Jan., 1968], No. 3541/68. Headings DID and D1M. A tensioning device for controlling the unwinding of plastics tape 4 or yarn from a package 5 (e.g. a creel for a bearing machine) comprises a pair of similar spring arms 16, 17 mounted side by side such that the arms converge from their mountings into. pressure, contact with one another to define a nip through which the tape or yarn passes. As shown, arm 16 includes a guide opening 25 for the tape or yarn. Arm 16 is fixed to an upright support 2 of a creel while arm 17 is fixed to a bracket 19 formed with fingers 27-29 fitting on alternate sides of a flange 20 of the support 2 so as to permit pivoting movement controlled by an adjustable siren with finger nut 31.
