Abstract

1,273,337. Winding sheet material. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 9 Sept., 1970 [3 Oct., 1969], No. 43168/70. Heading B8R. [Also in Division D1] In a device for winding cloth on to a cloth beam, for example the take-up motion of a loom, cloth 2 is wound on to a beam 8 which rises as the diameter of the roll of cloth increases and the beam is reciprocated parallel to its axis by undulations 14, on vertical members 11 (12) which guide the ends of the beam so that the cloth is traversed as it is wound up. The cloth is wound on to the beam by driving rollers 3 and 4. In alternative embodiments (Fig. 3, not shown), the end of the beam 8 is guided by an undulating slot in a plate, or by having undulations on the outside of the vertical guides acting on roller bearings on the ends of the beam (Fig. 4, not shown).
