Abstract

The instrument comprises two magnetic rings of opposite polarity, and means for aligning them together and holding them in this position. It can consist of a basically cylindrical housing, split transversely, and with a lengthwise bore whose parts are aligned and connected by a tube in the bore of one part and fitting in that of the other so as to move for a limited amount. Magnetic rings of opposite polarity are fitted to the parts. a series of needles can be provided in one part, fitting in drillings in the other. Near the free end of the tube a groove can be provided to accommodate a locking pin or spring in the other part of the housing.
