Abstract
Se describe un proceso para la oxidacion de la fase de vapor de etileno en dxido de etileno, en donde el proceso comprende hacer reaccionar una mezcla de reaccion que comprende etileno y oxígeno en presencia de un catalizador soportado altamente selectivo a base de plata por medio de lo siguiente: - operar en una fase operativa inicial en donde se utiliza el catalizador fresco, y - operar en una fase operativa adicional cuando la produccion acumulativa de oxido de etileno excede 0.01 kT de oxido de etileno por m3 de catalizador, en donde en la fase operativa adicional se aumenta la concentracion de etileno en la mezcla de reaccion; y un método para utilizar oxido de etileno a fin de producir 1,2-etanodiol o un 1,2-etanodiol éter correspondiente que comprende convertir el oxido de etileno en el 1,2-etanodiol o el 1,2-etanodiol éter, y en donde el oxido de etileno fue obtenido con el proceso para la produccion de oxido de etileno.
