Se describe una secuencia de un ADN purificada y aislada y la proteína codificada específica de mama, la mamaglobina; también se describen métodos para detectar cáncer de mama con base en la sobreexpresion y secrecion de mamaglobina por células de cáncer de mama; los métodos detectan y/o cuantifican la presencia de mamaglobina o el ARNm que codifica mamaglobina.
