Abstract

Se describe un proceso de dos pasos para la preparación de una poliéter sulfona que contiene un grupo éster. En el primer paso, una dihalogenodifenil sulfona se hace reaccionar con una cantidad en exceso de un compuesto de dihidroxi aromático y en un segundo paso el producto de reacción se hace reaccionar con un derivado de ácido dicarboxílico. La cantidad en exceso del compuesto de dihidroxi aromático, es aquella cantidad que es suficiente para reaccionar con el derivado para formar el éster correspondiente. El proceso de la invención se caracteriza por su economía y buen rendimiento, y por la alta pureza del producto. La poliéter sulfona así producida, es útil como una resina termoplástica y como un reactivo en el proceso de mezclado en estado fundido, para la preparación de copolímeros de bloque.
