Abstract

La invención proporciona un método para tratar un tumor en un paciente humano que comprende (i) identificar un paciente que tiene un tumor positivo a LAG-3 y (ii) administrar al paciente un inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1, una combinación de un inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1 y un inhibidor del punto de control inmunológico, una combinación de un inhibidor de LAG-3 y un inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1, o un anticuerpo de anti-CTLA4. En algunas modalidades, el método comprende además identificar al paciente que tiene un tumor positivo a PD-L1, positivo a LAG-3. En algunas modalidades, el inhibidor de LAG-3 es un anticuerpo de anti-LAG-3 y el inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1 es un anticuerpo de anti-PD-1. Los métodos de la invención pueden mejorar las tasas de respuesta al tratamiento con un inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1, una combinación de un inhibidor de la ruta de PD1 y un inhibidor del punto de control inmunológico, o una combinación de un inhibidor de LAG-3 y un inhibidor de la ruta de PD-1.
