Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a la dispersión de polímero acuoso de partículas de polímero en el vacío y a un proceso para preparar tal dispersión de polímero acuoso. La presente invención también se refiere a partículas de polímero, en particular a polvos de dichas partículas de polímero, que se obtienen mediante el secado de una dispersión de polímero. Los aspectos adicionales de la presente invención se refieren al uso de tales partículas de polímero en el vacío y a dispersiones de polímero como opacificantes y pinturas que contienen tales dispersiones de polímero acuoso. Las partículas de polímero en el vacío comprenden: i) un núcleo de polímero hinchable con álcali de monómeros M(i) polimerizados y no saturados etilénicamente que comprenden monómeros M(i.ac) de ácido polimerizado en una cantidad suficiente para permitir que el núcleo de polímero se hinche a un pH de al menos pH 7.5; ii) una capa de polímero intermedia de monómeros M(ii) polimerizados y no saturados en forma etilénicamente; y iii) una cubierta de polímero de monómeros M(iii) polimerizados e insaturados etilénicamente que tienen una temperatura de transición vítrea teórica de acuerdo con Fox de al menos 60°C. donde los monómeros M(iii) comprenden al menos 10% en peso, en función del peso total de los monómeros M(iii), de uno o más monómeros M(iii.a) cuyos homopolímeros tienen una temperatura de transición vítrea de al menos 50°C, donde el monómero M(iii.a) se selecciona del grupo que consiste en - ésteres de C5-C20-cicloalquilo de ácido acrílico, ésteres de C5-C20-cicloalquilo de ácido metacrílico, ésteres de C5-C20-cicloalquilmetilo de ácido acrílico, ésteres de C5-C20-cicloalquilmetilo de ácido metacrílico, donde el cicloalquilo en los monómeros mencionados anteriormente es monocíclico, bicíclico o tricíclico pueden no estar sustituidos o tener 1, 2, 3 o 4 grupos metilo; - ésteres de C3-C20-heterocicloalquilo de ácido acrílico, ésteres de C3-C20-heterocicloalquilo de ácido metacrílico, ésteres de C3-C20-heterocicloalquilmetilo de ácido acrílico, ésteres de C3-C20-heterocicloalquilmetilo de ácido metacrílico. donde el heterocicloalquilo en los monómeros mencionados anteriormente tiene un total de 5 a 16 átomos formadores de anillos, donde 1, 2 o 3 de los átomos formadores de anillos no adyacentes son átomos de oxígeno mientras que los átomos restantes de los átomos formadores de anillos son átomos de carbono, y donde el heterocicloalquilo es monocíclico, bicíclico o tricíclico y puede estar no sustituido o tener 1, 2, 3 o 4 grupos metilo;- ésteres de di-C1-C2-alquilo de ácido itacónico; y combinaciones de estos.
