Abstract
La presente invención proporciona un método para modular el contenido de alcaloides de una planta (por ejemplo, una planta de tabaco), el método comprende modificar dicha planta modulando la actividad o expresión de al menos un gen Nic1 ERF. La presente invención también proporciona el uso de al menos un gen Nic1 ERF para modular el contenido de alcaloides de una planta, así como células de tabaco, plantas, materiales de propagación de plantas, hojas cosechadas, tabacos procesados o productos de tabaco obtenibles de acuerdo con la invención.
