Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para la producción de metacrilato de metilo. El proceso de la presente invención comprende los pasos de: a) proveer un microorganismo en un medio de fermentación, bajo condiciones en las cuales dicho microorganismo producirá un éster de metacrilato de C3- C12; b) proveer una fase orgánica en contacto con el medio de fermentación, dicha fase orgánica incluye éster de metacrilato de C3-C12 en una concentración más alta que en el medio de fermentación; c) retirar la fase orgánica que contiene dicho éster de metacrilato de C3-C12 del contacto con el medio de fermentación; y d) transesterificar con metanol el éster de metacrilato de C3-C12 retirado, opcionalmente después de la separación de la fase orgánica, para producir metacrilato de metilo.
