Abstract
Se proveen métodos para mejorar la capacidad de una población de agentes biológicos para competir y sobrevivir en campo. Mejorando la población de agentes biológicos, la población modificada de agentes puede crecer, competir con otras cepas microbianas y hongos, y proteger las plantas contra los patógenos. En particular, agentes biológicos modificados y poblaciones modificadas de tales agentes que son tolerantes o resistentes a los herbicidas se seleccionan o diseñan. De esta forma, se mejora la protección contra agentes causantes de enfermedades. Estas poblaciones modificadas de agentes biológicos pueden agregarse a los suelos para eliminar los patógenos fungales y las enfermedades que causan estimulando el crecimiento vegetal. En consecuencia, la presente invención resulta de utilidad para mejorar la competitividad de agentes biológicos modificados particularmente sobre otros agentes microbianos que no son resistentes a los herbicidas.
