Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para producir metacrilato de metilo, el proceso comprende poner en contacto reactivos que comprenden metacroleína, metanol y un gas que contiene oxígeno, bajo condiciones de reacción en la presencia de un catalizador sólido que comprende paladio, bismuto y telurio, en donde el catalizador sólido comprende además un soporte seleccionado de al menos un miembro del grupo que consiste de sílice y alúmina, con la condición que el proceso produzca menos de 1 mol de formiato de metilo por mol de metacrilato de metilo.
