Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un gen del factor de transcripción GATA regulado por nitrógeno requerido para la acumulación de azúcares y nitrógeno, y a la modulación de la expresión de este gen para modular una característica en una planta. El factor de transcripción GATA de la presente invención está implicado en la regulación de la acumulación de azúcares y nitrógeno en plantas. La expresión incrementada de este o de genes considerablemente similares puede producir plantas con una mejor utilización de nitrógeno, un mejor rendimiento y una mejor tolerancia al estrés.
