Yes, I am aware of that. It makes me hope that the upcoming Votoms project might be a reboot of some sort, or at least newcomer-friendly anime, heh.

While Mamoru Oshii frequently departs from his source material, I don't find it as a negative thing. He does so deliberately to pursue his own themes, tone, and worldview rather than to reproduce the original faithfully. It doesn't take anything from the source material and also offers fresh experience for anime viewers, no matter if they are familiar with the original work or not. ;) If you ask me, I prefer this approach to, let's say, modifying the original work in a way that it neither resembles the adapted source material nor feel original and fresh in any way.

Oh, I see! Thanks for replying. Yeah, I also hope it will be that kind of movie. I don't know if I will ever give the original Votoms a try (ye, I know, it's a mecha classic, but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy watching it, lol), but whoa, Mamoru Oshii is one of my favorite anime directors, so I can't help but be excited about this new project, haha.

I hope it will be at least moderately newcomer-friendly, no matter if it's going to be a movie or a series. It may have references to the previous installments, of course, but I'd love it to have them presented in a way that viewers already familiar with the franchise won't have problems detecting them, and newcomers won't be confused in any way by them because of these elements blending well with the whole anime.

Hey! I saw your comments in the news thread related to the newest Votoms project. Are you familiar with this franchise? I thought about giving it a try some time ago (the original show), but I became reluctant after reading more. I dunno if I'd like that kind of vibe and pacing. So, if you have any experience with Votoms, I'd be grateful if you shared your opinion on this franchise.
