Indeed, though I think they've already come pretty damn close. The entire Zeruel sequence in 2.22 is just unforgettable. That film is the only anime I've bought the blu-ray for. Sucks there's still no release for 3.33.

I just went back and watched that sequence after reading that; ended up watching all the way to the end. Was surprised by how much I had forgotten, but it has been a long while after all. You're so right about the soundtrack. Shiro Sagisu never disappoints, though I always love Utada's input. So glad she gets to do the credit songs. Completely agree with ya! Though 1.11 was phenomenal, when things started to diverge from the original path in 2.22 was when I really fell in love with Rebuild.

Anno has been working on the Rebuild tetralogy for at least a decade at this point; I wonder what he'll do when it's all over.

Yeah, despite the secrecy I think they have to've been working on it for some time. The industry is so different over in Japan, it always seems footage is only released when the film/show/whatever is completed, whereas elsewhere in the world production companies will often release teasers, images and info way in advance. The preview is really all we've had to go off on years. I just had a look at it again and forgot how completely crazy it was. It's been so long I even forgot about all the hype surrounding the combined Eva units!

Ah, Tokyo Godfathers... glad it's become a staple of your Christmas, too. I have a retrospective book on Satoshi Kon and the info on Tokyo Godfathers surprised me the most; it's such an intricately woven film with many easter eggs despite its surface simplicity.

Kinda crazy to think how there has been so little news on 4.0 for basically YEARS. I remember when it was supposedly expected in 2013. :P If I had to guess, it'll probably see the light of day next year... perhaps. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, anyway.
