Initially, Toda didn't even consider a career as a voice actress, considering the work too difficult compared to her main acting job, and even admitting that she initially only accepted the job because she was working part-time at the theater at the time and her colleagues advised her to find additional work where her acting skills could be useful.

She was very close friends with actress Kanako Fukaura even before they began acting together, and when Fukaura died of cancer, Toda even temporarily took a break from the media afterward.

Toda makes a cameo appearance as the protagonist's mother in the 2005 cult classic Japanese romance drama Densha Otoko, where she makes several homages to Matilda, her character from the Gundam franchise, of whom the series' protagonist, Densha, is an avid fan.
