An absolutely adorable series about one mans desire to be a tamer, though the game keeps giving him farming companions instead.
The actual game aspect seems very thought out, and you can tell the author has experience within the MMO genre and community. Each character introduced feels like someone who would indeed exist within both the wider world they've set up, and the specific game they're playing, and while definitely a bit tropey at times, each character is executed well to the point you don't see the tropes until you look back.
There is a genre of anime/manga sort of derisively called "cute girls doing cute things",
...
and this manga certainly takes elements from that genre with the MCs companions all being adorable in one way or another, something the story constantly calls attention to in both plot and one off comments.
This is very almost an iyashikei story, as while there is definitely drama and stakes when in combat, the bulk of the story is designed around expanding the farm and collecting cute companions and friends. It's a wholesome story about the bonds between MMO players and the things they create and gain within them, as well as consistently showing bad actors getting swift consequences.
I cannot wait to see what happens next, especially since volume 8 ended on a cliffhanger!
