I've already watched Berserk (1997) 6 times and read the manga up to the current chapter (382) but when the manga went on hiatus I read it again after completing my Berserk collection (before the author passed away) and at the moment I have all the volumes of the manga, what about you?

@jadefantasia Without a doubt, this is a classic anime from the 90s and with a value impossible to replicate today!

I've watched Berserk only 1x. I don't need to rewatch it cuz it isn't as good as my 10/10 animes.

@TransferUser I honestly recommend rewatching it until the end if you like the 90s anime aesthetic.

@cri_c But did you reread it from the beginning like I did? Or are you just joking?

@ReMightyRon yes, from the beginning to the most recent chapter. Read it for the first time around 2016.

@ReMightyRon I dropped it because it fell way short of the manga. I'd rather reread the manga than try the half-baked anime again. If I want 90s fantasy anime there's always the Slayers movies to come back to. Or Kaze no Tairiku if I want something serious.

But it's probably going to be the Slayers movies. Those are peak 1990s fantasy anime.

I understand, I think so too, Slayers is one of my favorite fantasy anime to date!

@TransferUser I came back to ask, have you watched Lodoss-tou Senki? I recommend it. It has two seasons, one in OVA format and the other in TV format. It's from the 90s and is also fantasy, but don't expect it to be a masterpiece. The animation is quite old, but I like the story.

I have seen the 1990 13 episode OVA. It's solid, but a bit too stereotypical for my taste. Definitely a classic, though.
As for the 1998 27 episode TV show, I dropped it. Never touched the 1998 movie or the 2014 TV show, either.

Also dropped the various anime that take place in the same universe, like Mahou Senshi Louie and Legend of Crystania.

As far as 1990s fantasy anime goes, the Bakuretsu Hunter universe is also not bad. Especially Chivas 1-2-3. Though, it leans more into comedy.

For me, there is so much for me to watch that I haven’t served yet that rewatching direct happen.

The original Berserk I loved, except for what Griffon turns into, but the newer stuff not so much.

I watched the og anime and read the manga up until Miyura passed, I am not reading further, until the manga is complete. Busy collecting the deluxe edition hardcopies now :)

It's the best adaptation... but I personally still don't think it's that great. It's a 7/10 for me and I've only seen it once. I like the Japanese cast and music, but it's just not Berserk enough to me, and to be fair, I've always liked the dark fantasy (Black Swordsman and the like) more so than the Golden Age stuff.
Life can be cruel and unfair. At worst it can traumatize and cripple you. The desire for wanting things to return to the way they were can cost everything and changes nothing. The best way is to keep moving forward, struggle on.
Anger can be powerful but can only get you so far. Let people into your life even if some of them leave you in time.

Fight. Like. Hell. For everything and everyone you love. Always.
