Fall 2017 Rankings

Long Running (75+ episodes) series excluded
Couldn't really write too much cause I was pretty busy with IRL work but I'm glad I was able to keep up with all the anime

#1 Love Live! Sunshine!! 2nd Season

Predicted Rating at start : 10

Final Impression:Overall, It was a beautiful season. I knew coming in that this was gonna be a wonderful ride and I'm glad it lived up to everything I wanted. Charming, cute, emotionally charged, heartwarming and filled with the uplifting zeal that I know and love . This show never failed to put a smile on my face and it always makes me extremely happy and that's one of the greatest things a show can do, I've probably said it already but I just find the cheesy themes of Love Live! from the, finding your radiance to giving it your all to chasing your dreams to never giving up all so damn endearing and inspiring. All in all, Sunshine had everything Love Live! as a franchise represents to me and that is more than I can ever want. I don't think I ever game them praise but huge props to Sunrise, they honestly did a fantastic job with the production, The first season was in itself excellent but this season was better in almost every regard especially with the performances and CG. Job well done Sunrise!
I'm gonna miss the girls and I'm honestly really sad that they chose to end the anime and not continue onto a third season since they totally could have that considering Aqours are still relatively new. I'll just have to make do with LLSIF I guess. Thank You for everything Love Live! Sunshine!

Final Rating : 10

#2 Gintama. (2017)

Predicted Rating at start :10

Final Impression: Overall, yet another great season of Gintama and I'm both happy and sad that Gintama is now moving into it's concluding arc. This particular season in itself was really funny and I'm glad they decided to do this as a break between the back to back serious arcs we had. I've got high expectations for Silver Soul and the faith that it's gonna be amazing.

Final Rating : 10

#3 3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season

Predicted Rating at start : 10

Rating at the end of Fall : 10

#4 Mahoutsukai no Yome

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Rating at the end of Fall : 9

#5 Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara

Predicted Rating at start :9
Current Rating : 9

Final Impression: Overall, another great Shokugeki season. I'll say the first part of the season was definitely the stronger especially the episode with everyone helping Souma beat Kuma. That was easily one of the best Shokugeki episodes of all time. The second half of the season was still good and I'm looking forward to more next Spring which is already looking lit.

Final Rating : 10

#6 Ballroom e Youkoso

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: I always love these kind of Sports/Shounen shows about finding the things you love and chasing after them with all your heart. This first episode is all that I need to know that I'm gonna love this. The dancing is a pleasant sight to watch, fantastic presentation. I'm really loving the characters so far. Sengoku reminds me so much of Takamura from Ippo, watching Tatara dance and invent his own style was absolutely amazing and it put a huge smile on my face/ I have really high expectations for this one.

First Cour Impression: As expected, stunning, captivating and everything I hoped for. The direction is mesmerizing and find myself staring at the screen in awe with the events that transpire. This is pretty much everything I hoped for and even more, add one more to the Shounen sports greatness. Sengoku really reminds me of Takamura from Ippo at times. Depending on how this goes in the second half, I might even give this a 10.

Final Impression: Overall, fantastic series. It had all the spirit, energy and passion I've come to expect from Sport Shounen shows and that in itself puts it very high up there in my books. It was a real pleasure to watch Tatara grow from what he was in the beginning to what he is now in terms of skill, passion, self discovery and overall growth. The show had an excellent cast of entertaining characters and I enjoyed watching each and every one of them. While the show did seem reminiscent of Hajime no Ippo in the beginning, that's not a bad thing. My only complaint for this series is that we didn't get too many full fledged dance sequences which is kinda sad. Nevertheless, fantastic show overall.

Rating at the end of Summer: 9

Final Rating : 9

#7 Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, this show always felt very surreal to me, it's strangely captivating and beautiful despite the desolate dystopian world it takes place in, much like NieR:Automata. There's a lot of interesting commentary on various things both simple and complex but the simplistic presentation of this made it shine. Yuu and Chi are great characters and the overall direction of the series from the various scenes to the soundtrack was always on point. Definitely up there as one of my favorites from Fall.

Final Rating : 9

#8 Konohana Kitan

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, this was a really beautiful and heartwarming show. The execution of it's simple, beautiful, disconnected yet intertwined stories were fantastic and it often left me feeling really happy. Definitely up there as one of the most heartwarming and 'feel good' shows I've seen. The tranquil atmosphere of the show was great and the characters were loads of fun to watch. A truly charming show on the whole and I hope we get more some day.

Final Rating : 9

#9 Imouto sae Ireba Ii.

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, I liked this show quite a lot. It was a lot of fun to watch and hilarious at points. The characters and their interactions were great and I do like the whole 'author' aspect of the show and a little bit of how it shows the industry from the perspective of an author. I'd totally love to see a second season

Final Rating : 8

#10 Inuyashiki

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, a great series that I enjoyed plenty. Liked how the story developed and showcased the pure heroic deeds of Inuyashiki. Hiro's character and his mercurial nature of switching heart often probably did come of as a little rushed but I guess I could understand what his character was like. The CGi was a bit jarring at times but nevertheless a great show and ultimately what I truly liked about it till the very end was the pure self sacrificing spirit of Inuyashiki. By all means of the word he was a true hero. :(

Final Rating : 8

#11 Blend S

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, a pretty fun series. The comedy was great and watching the characters interact was really fun. The restaurant + stereotype theme worked really well for the comedy and the hints of romance in the show were nice too.

Final Rating : 8

#12 Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World - The Animated Series

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Great series overall, I haven't seen the original so this was my first introduction to the lauded 'Kino no Tabi' series that I've heard people heap praise for and it's most certainly left a very good impression on me. I find the ideas and themes the series tries to present and showcase through Kino's journey through various countries each with their own distinct culture and perspective on things very intriguing. While I may not know how well this stands upto the original, I'd like to say this was good in it's own right and until I get down to watching the original, this is still a great show in my books.

Final Rating : 8

#13 Shoukoku no Altair

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Not sure what to think of this, I was really looking forward to it before the season and while the the show isn't bad at all, it just doesn't seem to be what I imagined it to be. Rather it's not as great as I thought it'd be. It's only the start after all and especially since it's 2 cour, it might take a while before this show really gets going so I'm definitely looking forward to see if this show will get better that what it is and I hope it does.

First cour Impression:Has picked up pretty strongly from the middle of the first cour, pretty good now.

Final Impression: Overall, this show started out a little on the weak side but picked up really strongly from the second quarter and ever since then I've been pretty invested in this show. It was a real delight to see Mahmut grow from who he was at the beginning, a naive idealistic boy to a capable and reliable commander. I also like how despite being portrayed as naive in the beginning for thinking the way he did, he still retains his nature but is just wiser and that's some really great characterization on him. It was interesting watching him travel around to different places, face different scenarios with each event shaping his perspective on things. The overarching political and military themes were really cool to watch unfold and on the whole this was a really enjoyable show. It's definitely a shame that some things from the manga were changed or omitted as pointed out by various people when it happened, the most recent being last episode but I still think the show did a great job overall. Would love to see a second season if it ever happens.

Final Rating : 8

#14 Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Final Impression: Overall, I felt the anime couldn't keep the charm and intrigue it had over the first few episodes throughout the series. The first few episodes was definitely the series at it's best as it showcased some great world building, an interesting setting and intriguing world lore. Despite the strong set up, I felt the actual story and progression within this fantastical setting faltered due to it just feeling bland in execution leading to me losing quite a bit of interest in it. I think the problem was that none of the characters were strong enough to carry the story despite the strong setup it got, this is mostly true for Chakuro who despite being our Main Character isn't written well enough to carry the show through what it wants to present. If he was to remain like an archivist then the story should've taken a different direction in order to bring that out better, the supporting cast themselves aren't that great as well. Ouni and the blonde haired captain dude kinda stand out but even then, the way they were cast is just not strong enough to propel the narrative forward and keep it as intriguing as the initial premise. Maybe if they had a stronger focus, it could've worked for the direction the narrative was going in but we'll never know. I could probably compare this to Shinsekai Yori since the beginning of the series had similar vibes but Shinsekai Yori did pretty much everything better and I think that kinda story was what I was expecting from this series. Perhaps, my biggest gripe is that what I expected was completely different from what I got. Ultimately, I feel there was a lot of potential here that just wasn't capitalized on.
Fantastic art and soundtrack though, huge points for those.

Final Rating : 7

#15 Fate/Apocrypha

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Pretty good start. I've heard a lot of negative reception towards the source material but the anime itself seems quite enjoyable to watch. The action is great and I'm glad A1 are delivering on that front cause now I know I'll really enjoy that. The plot is so and so for now but since it's 2 cours and since it's fate, it'll probably a while before I can form my opinion on the story. The servants are all pretty cool. Jeanne+Atalanta+Semiramis+Mordred is win. <3

First Cour Impression: Fate: The Action flick I guess. While the story writing doesn't necessarily hold up to previous Fate works I've seen the action is awesome and A1 are doing a surprisingly good job at animating it. Would've been nice if we had a different MC though, this show is wasted on an MC like him. Red has all the cool servants.
Jeanne+Atalanta+Mordred+Semiramis = Win

Final Rating :

#16 Just Because!

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Final Impression: Overall, it was a pretty decent romance show. Characters were pretty decent, Komiya was definitely my favorite. Morikawa and Haruto were good too, Eita and Natsume were okay to me. I wasn't too invested in this series, it wasn't as gripping as I expected it to be. Possible because I've been spoiled by Tsuki ga Kirei but it was decent show nonetheless.

Final Rating : 7

#17 Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shou

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Final Impression:

Final Rating :

#18 Black Clover (TV)

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Screw Pierrot and the way they're adapting this. That's pretty much all I need to say.

Rating at the end of Fall : 6

#19 Two Car

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Final Impression: Overall, average show. It could've been better and I was hoping for more focus on the racing aspect itself and it not just be a plot element. Characters were decent enough for me to pull through the show and they were fun to watch at points. We certainly could've done without the whole coach drama but all's well that end's well I suppose?

Final Rating : 6

#20 Code:Realize: Sousei no Himegimi

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Final Impression: Overall, I think the show started out a lot more interesting that what it became towards the end. It was enjoyable enough and pretty classic in terms of events and progression but decent nonetheless.

Final Rating : 6

#21 Ousama Game The Animation

#1 Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season

Predicted Rating at start :10
Current Rating : 10

Initial Impression: BnHA is back and it's better than ever. The art and soundtrack are even more awesome and I don't know they took the already amazing soundtrack and made it better. I'm super happy that it's gonna be 2 cour as well and Bones are being really faithful in adapting the manga content and that is awesome news. Deku's minefield stuns was just awesome and I'm getting all emotional just like I was when I read the manga. Can't wait to see more and it's safe to say that this is gonna be on top of my watch list until it ends.

There's really nothing more that needs to be said about this, It's fantastic, Period. Pure greatness and Bones deserve so much praise for their stunning adaptation. I'm am so stoked to see how they are gonna handle Stain's arc next season. Also, Episode 10 is seriously one of the greatest things ever.

Final Impression:Overall, amazing season once again and I really appreciate the amount of work and care Bones have put into this series. It was visually stunning with an amazing soundtrack to go along with once again, most importantly it was faithful to the source, and everything extra that was added or extended always felt like it made things better which is normally never the case when it comes anime original material. Huge props to Bones for making this what they did and I honestly shudder to think how this series would have been had it been animated by someone else.
As for the content itself. BnHA has always been one of my favorite series ever since it was published and I'm always more than happy to see more animated content for it, I've always loved how the show at it's core has always been a pure Shounen bringing out the classic Shounen themes that are associated with the demograph, not to mention the pure heroism aspect of the show. All this together hits home pretty strongly for me, so it's not really surprising I love this series as much as I do.

U***** ****** ** SMASH IS COMING!!

PREPARE FOR GLORY!

#2 Ballroom e Youkoso

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: I always love these kind of Sports/Shounen shows about finding the things you love and chasing after them with all your heart. This first episode is all that I need to know that I'm gonna love this. The dancing is a pleasant sight to watch, fantastic presentation. I'm really loving the characters so far. Depending on how this goes in the second half, I might even give this a 10.

Rating at the end of Summer: 9

#3 Made in Abyss

Predicted Rating at start : 9
Current Rating : 9

Initial Impression: Strongest new series of the season. Love the intriguing setting, world building and all detail of the lore. I love how the show gives off a really mysterious but adventurous vibe with the whole treasure hunting and exploration of the abyss elements. The characters are great and really likable, the show even got me pretty emotional for the send off. I don't how far this is gonna go in terms of plot progression since it's only 1 cour but everything so far has been great and I expect great things.

Final Rating: Amazing show overall. Outstanding atmosphere and world building, loved the characters especially Nanachi. I love the sense of adventure the series manages to create and the way it envelops it in a darker and darker tone. Some of things were just messed up but despite all that seeing our protagonists continue on their journey is pretty inspiring.

#4 New Game!!

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: So glad to have this back, it's sweet and great stuff. As always I love the amount of detail actually put into the development tool and it's a real pleasure to see. There was surprisingly drama heavy 2nd episode but it was still great. Nene and Umiko might be the break out hit pair of this season. Pretty sure I'm gonna love this just as much the first season, I'll make sure I'll enjoy watching the girls have their fun.

Final Impression: Overall, just as good as the first season. Loved all the character dynamics especially Aoba's and Ko's mentor-mentee relationship. Good development for all the characters and show was just as cute and charming as always. No complaints here. The weird things is it never really sunk into me that this was ending today, It was only when I started the episode that I actually realized that this was finale and we aren't gonna be getting more for quite some time. It feels like this show should just continue.

Final Rating:

#5 Princess Principal

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Really strong start so far. Love the espionage action, it's tense and always keeps me excited. A real thrilling show to watch and I really hope they keep up this level of espionage-esque action for the remainder of the series. Excellent presentation overall and I expect good things from this show.

Final Impression:Overall, definitely one of the best shows of the season, loved it from start to finish. The spy segments were exciting and interesting to watch. While often episodic in nature, the stories were executed very well and the show didn't shy away from tragic or bittersweet endings to them which really made me feel for the characters of the episodic stories as well. The overall cast of characters were great and I loved the development each of them got. I also liked how the show kept it's atmosphere, it was tragic and depressive at times but there were happy moments as well to offset that and these two blended really well. While the overarching plot still remains open, I really do hope we get a 2nd season to this cause I would love to have a conclusive ending and moreover, I wanna see how the Princess changes the country.

Final Rating: 8

#6 Sakura Quest

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Great start so far, loving it. The setting is really nice and Yoshino is sort of a relatable character for me, the cast is great and really fun to watch. Lot of excellent moments so far particularly the second half of the episodes are excellent and often make me smile and happy. Yoshi's little speech at the end of the 3rd episode got me quite emotional. I had a feeling this show would be the dark horse of this season and I might just be right. Have high hopes for this and would love to see it reach Shirobako's level of excellence.

Show continues to be good with a lot of great moments and I've grown to love the characters. It's not quite reached Shirobako yet but it's by no means bad, really looking forward to the 2nd cour and what it holds.

Final Impression:Overall, I really enjoyed this show and what it presented regarding culture and the attitude of different generations towards it. The characters were really lovable and the show had a lot of beautiful moments. If anything, I think the last quarter dragged a bit but apart from that I loved almost everything else. It's kinda strange when you think about it, it's not Manoyama itself that changed but the people in it and I really loved how that ideal of changing and embracing the times but never losing your identity was presented.

Final Rating: 8

#7 Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e (TV)

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Great start, I like the setting and the MC is a pretty interesting character. I'm not sure what his exact motives are in this school along with his cynical outlook but secret badassery make him something of a dark knight until I learn what his true intentions are. He has a really nice dynamic with Horikita and I love watching both of them interact. My biggest surprise was seeing Shikaco voice Kushida since I haven't heard her voice in a major character outside of Hanayo from Love Live. That image destruction at the end of episode 3 though. Expect good things from this show.

Final Impression: Overall, a very good series with interesting and two faced characters. I enjoyed it all the way. I really don't have much to say about this surprisingly. I'd love a second season though.

Final Rating:

#8 Isekai Shokudou

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: The show that I'm afraid to watch without munching on something because I of how it makes me crave for all the food they show. The detailing and art are really impressive and the show as a whole has a very laid back and relaxing atmosphere while also being very sincere. I'm sure I'll enjoy this till end as long as I survive through the food craving.

Final Impression:Overall, this show was a relaxing and comforting watch almost always and I'm glad it succeeded in that area till the very end.

Final Rating: 8

#9 Tsurezure Children

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: The cute romance show of the season with so many different couples. I like it and it show be a sweet show to watch.

Final Impression: Overall, this show turned out way better than I expected. It was funny, sweet and enjoyable to watch. Lovely romance and I loved all the pairings.

Final Rating: 8

#10 Nana Maru San Batsu

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Surprisingly really good. The quizzes are really enjoyable to watch especially since they were able to make something like a quiz really entertaining. Good presentation, fairly classic start other wise. Have good expectation for this, hope it delivers.

Final Impression: Overall, this was a surprisingly good show. I most certainly did not expect it to end up liking it as much as I did. The quiz games were fun and exciting to watch and the characters were a fun bunch as well. I'd love for their to be a second season or something/

Final Rating: 8

#11 Gamers!

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: This show is hilarious and super entertaining to watch. Loving all the game references and random jabs/banter and comments. Watching the characters go at each other is really fun and the occasional comment on the industry itself is pretty amusing. Expect good laughs out of this one.

Final Impression: verall, a really fun series and it hit home pretty strong on many points since it was about gaming. I normally hate the misunderstanding tropes in harems but I love how this series played it too comedic effect. Characters were pretty fun as well. Bonus points for the glorious end cards.

Final Rating:

#12 Kakegurui

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Very good start to the show, Jabami is awesome, love her. The gambling games are pretty exciting to watch and while they can be predictable in terms of the final outcome, it's still really fun to watch how it's gonna happen. That school is messed up though and almost every character is crazy, I suppose that's what makes it so entertaining. I love what they do with Jabami's eyes and the red flashes are so epic. This is gonna be a fun ride.

Final Impression:Overall, the show started out really strong. The gambles were exciting and intense but I suppose the episodic and formulaic nature of the plot and episodes made the gambles kinda predictable in the sense we always knew Yumeko was going to win and it was quite easy to predict how she was gonna do it at times. That in itself is not a good thing to have in a series in like this as it kinda removes the thrill from the games. All that said, the gambles and the show itself was pretty fun to watch and the crazy maniacal characters were amusing in their own way. Hayami Saori deserves the most praise for her stunning performance as Yumeko.

Final Rating: 7

#13 Fate/Apocrypha

Predicted Rating at start : 7

#14 Koi to Uso

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Quite a good start so far, the soundtrack is amazing. You can really see the similarities to Kuzu no Honkai in the soundtrack. The whole concept of arranged marriages is still prevalent around the world so in a sense I like to think of this series as sort of commentary on that. The characters are nice, the kissing scenes are great. Ririna is best girl and that will be all.

Final Impression: Overall, I thought the series started out pretty good. Unfortunately the show never really went anywhere and didn't reach anywhere close to something even remotely conclusive. While I really do like Misaki, it sucks that she can't be decisive about her feelings and it's ironic that Ririna is the most clear headed and proactive character in the series. In all honesty, I don't think I would've liked the series as much as I did if it weren't for her. I can safely say that she carried the series for me. Her development with Yukari was the only thing remotely linked to progression and were definitely my favorite parts of the series. I said it last episode but I find it extremely ironic that Yukari who is made out to be a nice guy is technically unfaithful to both the girls who love him and he jumps from one to other all the time because of his indecisivness. Not really a trait of a nice guy if you ask me.
The soundtrack of the series was fantastic, huge points for that.

#15 Re:Creators

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: This here is quite a surprising show. I went into this not knowing what to expect and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this actually was. The setting is quite interesting with the whole fictional characters in reality, watching them react to their new surroundings and how different it is from their own is quite amusing. The initial three episodes have been build up so far but then again it's a 2 cour show so the pacing checks out as good. I've hope that this show will rise in my rankings through it's run.

I haven't actually bumped up the rating yet but the show has certainly been quite good. I guess my only issue is that there is sometimes too much build up to the events if not some repetition. That aside the show is still good and the action is nice as well, the soundtrack is great as well. I'm not exactly attached to any of the characters but some of the stuff especially Sota's speech really hit home. Still not sure what's keeping me from bumping the rating up on this one but I hope the second cour destroys the barrier.

Final Impression: Overall, this was quite a good show. The action was excellent and the soundtrack was top notch as well. The premise of the story was intriguing and the progression was handled decently enough if I had to pick out something I'd say that the build up phases of the show lasted far too long that it kinda seemed to drag on. That being said, these final few episodes were fantastic and easily the best episodes of the series. The characters were entertaining this enough but Sota wasn't all that likable until the latter half of the series. I do think that the premise of the story could've been done better or in a different way but this was still good.

Final Rating: 7

#16 Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: The new cousin to Sakamoto is Aoyama. The show is fun to watch and seems to be more comedy than sports oriented than sports. Like I said, it's still an entertaining show and I'm sure I'll have my fun with it.

Final Impression: Overall, a really fun series, consistently funny and accomplished what it set out to do and that is make me laugh. Characters were great and a lot of fun to watch, I'd love to see an S2 of this if we ever get one.

Final Rating: 7

#17 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: Contrary to what I thought, Boruto is off to a great start and Pierrot are actually doing quite well in presenting it. It's giving off the classic Shonen vibes and I'm definitely liking all the next generation characters so far. It's also nice to see our older characters all grown up. The series also serves as a visual indicator of everything Naruto achieved and it kinda makes me respect him more.

Boruto started out really strong, the middle half was kinda okay and the show has picked up quite well towards the end of the first cour. I hope the show continues to be good.

Rating at the end of Summer: 7

#18 Shoukoku no Altair

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: Not sure what to think of this, I was really looking forward to it before the season and while the the show isn't bad at all, it just doesn't seem to be what I imagined it to be. Rather it's not as great as I thought it'd be. It's only the start after all and especially since it's 2 cour, it might take a while before this show really gets going so I'm definitely looking forward to see if this show will get better that what it is and I hope it does.

First cour Impression:Has picked up pretty strongly from the middle of the first cour, pretty good now.

Final Rating: 7

#19 Tenshi no 3P!

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: You can't really call this show anything but all round adorable. Love our little loli's and it's nice watching them try hard. It does look like there's gonna be some drama and while I don't mind the drama in particular. I'd much rather they keep the show cute with out cute lolis doing cute things. All that service is win-win. XD

Final Impression: Overall, a pretty good show. The first half was definitely my favorite and as I mentioned above, the show is at it's best when it's focusing on music and when the characters were figuring out what they wanted to do, MC and Sakura included. That's pretty much whhy I found the inclusion of too many haremish tropes in the Kiriyume arc to be kinda distasteful. However this last episode most certainly redeemed the show for me. The Loli's service was great though. :3

Final Rating: 7

#20 Dive!!

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: Seems like a diving version of Battery and while that might be a bad thing, this show is definitely much better executed that Battery and is way more enjoyable. It's not too great or anything but the show has it's moments and I'll probably watch it since it does seem decent.

Final Impression: Overall, this was a pretty average show. I wasn't expecting anything great but I was hoping it would at least be as good as Free, seems I was mistaken. The story was all over the place, one moment we're trying to get the club to survive by aiming for the Olympics, then we go into random love triangle drama and then some random teen angst drama. The show lacked a concrete goal and direction, there should have honestly been more emphasis on the sport itself. They should've decided whether they wanted to focus on the sport or character drama, I get the sense they wanted to achieve a working mix of both but unfortunately the direction just didn't hold up to that and as a result we have a mediocre show with no meaningful theme. Hardly any of the characters passed of as likable to me.

Final Rating: 6

#21 Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: Don't really know much about the Toukem Ranbu franchise, mostly just watching for the cool flashy action and cool characters/

Final Impression: Overall, this was the action flick of the season to me. Pretty much watched it for the cool action sequences. Everything else was sorta okay and the show had it's moments so pretty decent overall and I got what I expected from it in the first place.

Final Rating: 6

#22 Netsuzou TRap

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: ;) ;) ;) Nothing to see here, keep moving.

Final Impression: Overall, I was expecting some decent Yuri from this show but ultimately it was just a bunch of messed up relationships that went nowhere and episodes dragged on with basically little to no development. I suppose some of the kissing scenes were good and that's about it. Takeda was definitely the best character.

Didn't write any mid season stuff this time as well, busy? Nah I think I was playing too many video games.

#1 Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season

Predicted Rating at start :10

First Cour Impression: BnHA is back and it's better than ever.

Rating at the end of Spring : 10

#2 Shingeki no Kyojin Season 2

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Initial Impression: The long awaited 2nd season of Shingeki no Kyojin with an explosive start and lots of new mysteries and buildups. I'm super excited and can't wait for all these mysteries to be revealed. So far everything has been on point except the fact there's some CG thrown in there but that's not so bad. It's pretty cool that one of the things I thought at the end of S1 turned out to be true. The only sad thing about this is that it's 1 cour.

Final Impression: Overall, excellent followup to S1, the wait for all these years was worth it. Action was awesome, the gore was brutal and loads of new revelations and hints. I guess I can only keep theorizing until whenever they decide to reveal more information but I'm sure excited to know what the truth really is. Glad they announced an S3 for 2018, don't really have much to add.

Final Rating : 9

#3 Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Initial Impression: Yowamushi Pedal is back, boy am I glad for that. I am so glad they kept the original OST, what would I have done had they changed that? Anyhow, the starting episode have been great, I'm glad this is gonna be 2 cour as well. It's mostly been buildup for now but I can't wait for the intense cycling to kick and I'm really looking forward to see how the new generation of Sohoku will fair.

Final Impression: Overall, another great season of Yowamushi Pedal. Had everything I wanted from it, the epic races, the motivational moments and the inspiration, the team spirit, the zeal, the energy, the entertaining characters and everything else that I can't exactly list down. Special mention to Teshima as he really shone throughout this season, his " I believe there's a moment when an ordinary man beats a genius" still sticks with me. Can't wait for S4 and for the continuation of the race. If anything, the only thing I missed this season was that there wasn't enough Midousuji.

Final Rating : 9

#4 Tsuki ga Kirei

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: Excellent so far, this might be the real dark horse of this season. It's been a while since I saw a pure, cute and adorable romance show like this and I love the atmosphere. The show also has this vibe of realism to it in the way our shy main protagonists act and talk, I just find their embarrassing moments, awkward stares and even the hesitance while sending text so very relatable. It's all these simple moments that make this show really cute, pure and heartwarming. I'm pretty sure I had a smile on my face when watching this.

Final Impression: Overall, This was easily one of the best romance series to come out in the past few years. This type of pure and sweet romance is what I really love. The slow, developing romance as we see Kota and Akane gradually develop their feeling towards each other was beautiful, what's even better is how they are both socially awkward and it was really fulfilling to see them grow fond of each other. That's why all the little things in this show are so powerful, from them initially struggling to converse to the LINE conversations to them eventually being able to talk to each other freely. All this attention to the simple details along with some really sweet fluff is what gives this show a very heartwarming and heartfelt atmosphere and is also what makes the drama moments so tense and heart wrenching. The best part of this show is that watching it unfold, especially Kota and Akane's romance and their sweet moments together make me so happy and I love it for that.

The show's title fits really well, Just like the moon, it was beautiful.

Final Rating : 9

#5 Eromanga-sensei

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Initial Impression: Really really good start. I'm liking it way more than I liked Oreimo. Characters are great and I actually like the MC since he's pretty hilarious as the straight man. Sagiri is a ball of cuteness and I thought I might not like Elf but ended up really liking her. I also really like how the series is portraying the authors with the contrast in their writing style and the achieving success in the industry. Comedy is on point and I've been laughing like crazy for a lot of scenes, This could very well turn out to be one of the best rom-com esque shows I've watched.

Final Impression: Overall, great show. I don't know about most people but what really clicked with me for this show was actually the comedy, I don't know why I find the random antics, dialogues and references in this show so funny. This show scores huge points with me just for the comedy, so it definitely comes of as one of the better rom-com's I've seen. The romance aspect as expected is just teased and setup, pretty standard for this kind of series especially since it's only 1 cour but like I said the comedy was the selling point for me. Character wise, all the girls were really cute and lovable and I definitely wanna see more of Tomoe, Masamune was a decent lead as well. The Light Novel/Writing side of the series was also really nice and is probably what I liked second most after the comedy and on the whole the show was really entertaining. Points for the Oreimo cameos as well.

Final Rating : 9

#6 Quan Zhi Gao Shou

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Initial Impression: What kind of blasphemy is this? A Chinese anime that I actually love? Like seriously this show is awesome. I never expected a Chinese anime to be this good. It's also probably the first anime to almost accurately represent video game culture and even E-Sports. The stoic kinda main character is awesome and the in-game visual and action scenes are excellent. The plot is still in it's initial stages but I'm really looking forward to seeing him come up in the world. He can also be pretty smug and savage with his comments and actions but since he's got the skill to boot with it there's no one that can stop him. XD

Final Impression: Overall, the best if not the only good Chinese anime I've seen till date. The story is nice and the take on video game culture and E-sports is also pretty cool to see. Characters are really likable and kinda charming in a way, I totally ship Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng. The action was seriously awesome and I love the trash talk that happens during the fights. As a whole, this was a really enjoyable and entertaining series and I do hope to see more. Really looking forward to seeing Ye Xiu make a name with his new team in the competitive Glory world. Can't wait for S2.

Final Rating : 9

#7 Sakura Quest

Predicted Rating at start : 8

First Cour Impression: Great start so far, loving it.

Rating at the end of Spring : 8

#8 Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: Great start so far, first of all the OST is soundtrack. The insert songs and the montages are just awesome. The story itself makes me reminiscent of NieR:Automata and given how much of an impact that game had on me, I feel this gonna be an excellent show. Characters are great, setting is great and the show while does feel light hearted at times is very overt in presenting the poignant atmosphere amidst the fun. I suspect I might shed a tear or two over the course of this show.

Final Impression: Overall, great show. Started out with a kind of calm and relaxing atmosphere but the way the show switched between it's light-hearted heartwarming moments and the darker tones were great. The deeper and darker themes about the violent and destructive nature of humanity really bring out the overarching poignant atmosphere, really makes you feel for the characters, especially during this finale and that episode where Willem waits for Chtholly to come back from battle. Despite all the tragic and depressive tones in the series, I've always felt the show was trying to convey that no matter what happens, you can always find a way to happiness. Amazing soundtrack as well, huge praise for that and the usage was excellent.

Final Rating : 8

#9 Atom: The Beginning

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: The prequel to Astro Boy is actually really nice. Character dynamic is nice and Six is pure awesome. There were some nice theories on bringing consciousness into robots and the show is quite interesting to watch especially in terms of watching six adapt to the different scenario's he's in. Looking forward to more of this.

Final Impression: Overall, definitely a great show. Loved watching Six's various feats, especially as we see him learn, recognize and analyze his surroundings. It was really interesting to see him develop the Ego-conscious mentioned way back in episode 2 i.e. Bewusstsein and learn to show kindness in his actions and develop his own thoughts. The tournament brought that out really well. In a sense Six did carry the show but in another way Six is the show.

Final Rating : 8

#10 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations

Predicted Rating at start : 8

First cour Impression: Contrary to what I thought, Boruto is off to a great start and Pierrot are actually doing quite well in presenting it.

Rating at the end of Spring : 8

#11 Fukumenkei Noise

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: Really good start so far, I'm really liking all the charters introduced so far and their intertwining backstories are nice. Dynamics are great and the music aspect of the show are great. There is also quite a but of dedication and emotion involved in the show and I really like how the show built up the feelings the characters have as something that developed during their time together all the way from the past. The 3rd episode especially was really heartfelt with the rooftop scene and I'm leaning more towards Alice x Yuzu, the show can still take any direction though. Looking forward to see how this turns out and I hope it does turn out well.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a good series, I feel this show would've been much better with 2-cour considering the development we've had over the course of this season, the music aspect of the show was good and I loved all the performances. Really liked the intertwining backstories of Yuzu, Momo and Nino, Unfortunately the romance in the show was pretty much left hanging with Nino and Yuzu deciding not to give up and Momo's motives remain unknown. The show does pretty much make you root for Yuzu though, Momo never really got enough screentime or rather, he had nowhere near the impact Yuzu had during the series which is why I feel that this show would have been better as two cour. A second season is probably unlikely so I guess I'll wait till the manga ends before picking it up to see the bitter end of this love triangle.

Everything I said aside, The real star of this show was Hayami Saori for her stunning performance on Nino. I honestly don't know how hard it must've been to scream and sing during the recording sessions. Amazing voice acting, she's always been one of my favorite Seiyuu's and this show is a good example of how good she is. Great Job once again.

Final Rating : 7

#12 Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Pretty good start is what I'd say and I like our Mercenary MC but Zero is just awesome. I love her already. I appreciate the information and world building the show does by caring to explain the nuances in detail. Character dynamic is nice so far and very enjoyable to watch. The Skyrim meme and Zero's outfit change are the best parts of the show so far. That aside, I'm not really sure how this will turn out since it feels plot focuses and in 1 cour it's more likely they'll just leave the show hanging after either concluding an arc or something. While I like the fantasy element with the little darker tone to it, I suspect the mindless mobs may annoy me.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a decent series. Pretty entertaining and fairly dark at times, at least most of the opening episode felt a little dark. The series was strongest during the middle episodes, especially the episode where Albus, Mercenary and Zero travel together and have fun. Discovering Thirteen and stuff was also really interesting, In a way, I guess it was the last episode or two that felt weaker in comparison to the older ones since it felt like everything fell into place rather easily. I suppose that's expected since they were trying to fit a political uprising arc with a happy ending into 1 cour. Anyway, it was still a good series and I did like all the characters, Zero especially.

Final Rating : 7

#13 Berserk (2017)

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Honestly? People complain way too much about the CGI. True, it's sad that we're getting CGI but the content itself is being adapted pretty well and I'm happy that I can get refreshed with the Berserk world considering how slowly the chapters come out.

Final Impression: Overall, definitely way better than S1. They are doing well in terms of adapting the source material. If at all, the only problems you can call on this series is the CG animation that can sometimes get really awkward, Like in this episode when the pirate guy was talking, his mouth and voice sync were totally off. Despite all that, I still really enjoyed this show and besides, I'm glad that we're getting an adaptation post Golden Age. I wouldn't mind an S3 to see the rest of the content adapted. My only wish is that someday, Berserk gets a full 2D animation adaptation like the last scene of this episode. That would honestly be the best thing ever and while it isn't likely, I'd love for S3 to be 2D if and if we get one.

Final Rating : 7

#14 Hinako Note

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Your CGDCT made up of adorable and cute characters that will one day make my nose bleed. It's really fun and pleasant to watch and the character dynamics are fun too. If I end up enjoying this a lot I might bump the rating up a notch.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable SoL. Nothing too special and definitely not the best SoL I've seen but it was still quite enjoyable. The characters were all really cute and adorable and their interactions were always pretty fun to watch. Some of the lewd cosplay and poses were awesome though. XD

Final Rating : 7

#15 Re:Creators

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: This here is quite a surprising show. I went into this not knowing what to expect and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this actually was. The setting is quite interesting with the whole fictional characters in reality, watching them react to their new surroundings and how different it is from their own is quite amusing. Still not sure what's keeping me from bumping the rating up on this one but I hope the second cour destroys the barrier.

Rating at the end of Spring : 7

#16 Alice to Zouroku

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Thought this was gonna be an SoL series but it turned out to have some much more serious fantasy elements to it. Still pretty good nonetheless, I do like the character dynamic between Sana and Zoroku. Sanae is great too and the first three episodes were pretty fun to watch. The fourth was pretty serious and I don't really like Minnie C but hey that doesn't matter I guess. The show does have a nice message about living like a human.

Final Impression: Overall, I thought this show was gonna be a pure SoL but it did have a fair amount of Action and Drama. The SoL portions of the show were definitely the best and the most adorable parts but the action/drama segments were also good. In a way, you could say that the serious portions are what made the SoL portions really good. Characters were really likable and as a whole the show was quite fun to watch. Special mention to the design for Wonderland which was great.

Final Rating : 7

#17 Granblue Fantasy The Animation

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Pretty classic start for an adventure based anime is all I can say, the artstyle is kinda unique maybe it's just the way the characters are drawn that I find different. The action is great and the characters are likable so far. Don't have much to add but I'm sure this will be a fun watch.

Final Impression: Overall, a pretty fun show. I thought we had 14 episodes but looks like I was mistaken. I haven't played the game so I guess a lot of the fan service and new character cameo's sorta passed over my ahead but despite everything the show was quite entertaining. I really love all the diverse locations that the crew traveled too, we really didn't go too in depth into the story but that's understandable considering they probably can't put in a full fledged game plot into a 1 cour show. Characters were pretty charming, too bad we didn't get introduced to all the characters, a lot of them caught my eye but apart from our main group most of them only got a little cameo. I don't know if I'll ever play the game but I sure will watch an S2 if there is one.

Final Rating : 7

#18 Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: While it's not really as good as the original Danmachi, it's not a bad spin off and is fairly fun to watch. I guess some character exposition on Ais and the Loki team is always welcome. Lefiya is okay so far, hopefully she'll grow on me.

Final Impression: Overall, Oratoria started out a little slow and nowhere nearly as strong as the original Danmachi but the show did pick up very strongly towards the latter half especially during this final quarter. I really enjoyed these last few episodes and it's always nice to learn more about the Loki familia. Oratoria also seems to deal with a more intricate plot in comparison to the original and on the whole the series was quite entertaining to watch.

Final Rating : 7

#19 Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Magic, School. Fantasy and LN. These tags are basically what makes me cautious of a show since it's basically an announcement for a new magic school harem show and often I just don't really enjoy these shows because of the tropes which I simply don't like. I still watch them for the girls and fan service but this show has surprisingly shown itself to be a little different and that simple difference is that the MC is actually really likable. In fact, I wouldn't mind saying that Glen carries this show hard for me, he's funny, interesting and while he may not be OP, he can hold his own weight. So in a world of cliched magic school series with OP MC's with 0 personality who magically seduce every girl, Glen is probably what I needed to actually make me like these kinda shows. While the show does have all the other classic tropes they are enjoyable enough I suppose and the characters are likable. This might end up as one of the few magic school series that I actually end up liking. Also the school uniforms in this show are pure awesome.

Final Impression: Overall, I guess in my eyes this turned out as just another magic school series, which is a shame really considering the first few episodes were really promising. Glen is definitely one of the best protagonists I've seen from these magic school shows, In fact I'd say he's miles above most other protagonists from this genre and he pretty much carried the entire show for me. I feel the show is at it's best when it's showcasing Glenn's random antics, trolling and all the class events. They were really fun to watch and Glen certainly delivers on the comedy aspect. Unfortunately, these parts are bogged down entirely by the show's so called serious arcs which felt very mediocre both in terms of story and execution. I suppose it was entertaining enough as we could at least see Glenn's abilities. The characters are likable but no one really stands out apart from Glen and like I said, it's kinda sad how his great character is brought down by the show's plot. Finally major points for the school uniforms, they were easily the best part of the show.

Final Rating : 6

#20 Sakurada Reset

Predicted Rating at start :6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: This show is kind of a tough nut to crack, it has a very interesting premise and the plot has a lot of mystery that can be interesting. However the beginning of this show is really slow, now normally that isn't a bad thing but in this case the show feels dull and the characters often interact in very monotonous voices that makes the entire thing feel very dull. The context seems to involve a little philosophy which again while interesting still suffers due to lacking and dull presentation. The third episode is a definite improvement in terms of breathing some life into the show but still the show feels very bland on the presentation side to me. However, as I said the premise and plot are interesting so there's a chance this can get better especially since it's 2 cours.

This show, I don't know how to describe. The tone is dull and the characters still feel very dull with the way they converse but despite that it's kinda interesting in it's own way. I honestly don't know what to feel about this show, on one hand I am kinda bored while watching but yet I'm interested in the things that can/will happen.

Rating at the end of Spring : 6

#21 Cinderella Girls Gekijou

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: Short fun. Though I haven't played the games so I don't really know all the characters.

Final Impression: Nice shot series, fun.

Final Rating : 6

#22 Gin no Guardian

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 5

Initial Impression: Chinese anime, it's average I suppose. Kinda fun to watch mostly because of the whole game related setting but nothing too good I suppose.

Final Impression: The series started out decent with Suigin and Riku Rei's interactions and stuff but then it just sorta faltered along the way to the point I didn't know what it was trying to do anymore. The stuff that happened felt kinda random and what not but I guess it was a decent enough watch. Till the end we never knew what the intro scene was all about, you know the one with Suigin fighting against all those skeletons in a mausoleum kinda place.

Final Rating : 5

#23 Clockwork Planet

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 4

Initial Impression: It's a decent start so far, I don't know? I guess I was expecting something totally different from what we got. It's not horrible by any means but just that it feels a little average in comparison to a lot of other shows this season. The setting is by far the most interesting about this show but the execution seems bland in comparison to it. There are lot of tonal shifts here and there which are not really bad but makes me feel that the setting seems to be a waste for the content the show is providing. Characters are okay so far with RyuZu pretty much carrying the show. I had high hopes for this show but it doesn't really seem to be anything special.

Final Impression: Overall, this was the weakest show of this season to me. The setting was unique and interesting at first but almost everything else in the show falls flat which makes the unique setting feel like wasted potential. The characters, the plot and it's progression all felt really mediocre, pretty much nothing in this show save for the original intrigue of the setting could even remotely hold my interest. Really disappointing, considering that I was actually looking forward to this show at the start of this season since I heard the author of NGNL worked on this, NGNL is far far more entertaining than this show. The name 'Clockwork Planet' and the synopsis make this show sound so much more cooler than it actually is, that is just sad. If anything, RyuZu was probably the only saving grace in this show.

Wasn't able to write up any mid-season thoughts this time since I was pretty busy. (Was I?)

#1 Gintama 2017

Predicted Rating at start :10

Initial Impression: Well it's Gintama, need I say more? Anyway great start to Rakuyo arc, great blend of comedy action and parody as always. Zura fight was epic as hell and I loved the flashbacks. As always, Gintama is maximum entertainment, can't wait for more.

Final Impression: Overall, great season. I love the serious arcs in Gintama as much as the comedy stuff and while the usual comedy is missed, I still loved this arc a lot. Great fights, lot of great moments with the Joui 4 and loved all the backstories from the Yato's to Oboro to Utsuro/Shoyo, excellent character exposition. This arc was technically like a set up for the grand finale and I am super hyped right now. Can't wait for the next season of Gintama presumably the last one, whenever that is.

Final Rating : 10

#2 3-Gatsu no Lion

Predicted Rating at start :9

Initial Impression: First of all, The OP and ED are way too good, Easily the best of the season. Based Bump of Chicken. As for the show itself, The atmosphere is excellent, The way it shifts from the poignant monologues to the heartwarming tones is simply outstanding. Characters are humanized, really likable and you really feel for each of them, At the same they're really fun to watch. Rei's monologues add so much backstory and characterization and serve as excellent set ups for the events that come into play in the episodes, The lucid integration of background storytelling into the current events is a huge strong point. The comedy is pretty nice as well and makes for good fun. Perhaps the greatest part of the show outside of the seamless atmosphere switching and background storytelling is the emotional delivery, Three episodes in and I'm already crying and smiling over the events that happened. The 3rd episode in particular managed to convey so many emotions and the way the entire event was set up was nothing short of beautiful, From Harunobu's unyielding spirit to Hina's heart wrenching cry, Everything was just excellent. Despite the melancholic atmosphere the show sets up at times, It is still strangely uplifting. Expecting great things here.

Mid Season Impression(Episodes 4-11): Show has been outstanding so far, I'm enjoying each and every episode. Rei is a great character and watching him slowly overcome is trauma is truly satisfying and heartwarming. The way this is done with a really comfy atmosphere is truly soothing and often leaves me with a grin on my face. That being said, The true greatness is how the atmosphere switches from it's moody depressive tone from Rei's soliloquies and the pressure put on him by various people to the relaxing homely tone. The characters dynamics remain as great as ever and I love all the characters. There were quite a lot of stunning scenes and I'm expecting great things from the upcoming 2nd cour.

Final Impression: Overall, what can I say? Outstanding show, I was interested in the Shogi stuff even though I know nothing about it, that in itself makes it something special. Lovable characters all round. The emotional impact of this show is nothing short of spectacular. There are so many parts where I felt really emotional, grinning, tearing up, it had it all. I especially love the way the show showcases Rei slowly overcoming his problems by discovering all these simple but much needed realizations and joys. To be honest, these are the moments where I feel the show truly shines as it creates this heartwarming and morally uplifting emotion that just makes me really happy. I don't know but maybe it's because I can relate to a lot of the problems Rei faces as an introverted kid. Simply put, I loved everything from start to finish.

Final Rating : 10

#3 Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation

Predicted Rating at start : 9

Initial Impression: Yowamushi Pedal is back, boy am I glad for that. I am so glad they kept the original OST, what would I have done had they changed that? Anyhow, the starting episode have been great, I'm glad this is gonna be 2 cour as well. It's mostly been buildup for now but I can't wait for the intense cycling to kick and I'm really looking forward to see how the new generation of Sohoku will fair.

Rating at end of Winter : 9

#4 Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2

Predicted Rating at start :8

Initial Impression: Kazutrash is all that needs to be said. XD The fun, frolic and wackiness of the Konosuba gang is back and it's as hilarious as ever. Do I need to say more?

Final Impression: Just as good as last season. Excellent humor, Great characters and the fun and wacky humor is just pure gold at times. Hope we get an S3 someday.

Final Rating : 8

#5 Ao no Exorcist: Kyoto Fujouou-hen

Predicted Rating at start :8

Initial Impression: Glad to have Ao no Exorcist back with a proper adaptation. It's great seeing all the characters again. Had to read the manga to refresh my memory and I did kinda read ahead so I do know what's gonna be happening and I'm looking forward to seeing some great scenes animated.

Final Impression: Overall, great and faithful adaptation of a great arc. Easily better than whatever they pulled in the first season. Don't really think anything more needs to be said.

Final Rating : 8

#6 All Out!!

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: Pretty good start, It has the energy and spirit I love in sports anime. The characters are likable and the comedy is pretty funny at times. Iwashimzu tackling Gion at the end of the first episode and Gion's low tackle in the second were really awesome to watch and the soundtrack coupled with them is fantastic. The match presentation is pretty well done and the games feel intense and zealous. I don't really know much about rugby, Actually I know nothing. So hopefully this might be pretty educational in learning about the sport? This is one super physical sport though. I wouldn't be able to play it for the life of me. Solid start overall, Expecting this to be good especially since it's 2 cour.

Mid Season Impression(Episodes 4-12): Getting better and better, Loving all the characters. There's a real good amount of zeal and passion in the show and the matches are really entertaining and intense too watch. You can feel the pressure in those scrums. Practices are really fun and energetic to watch. This show honestly is what I wanted Days to be. Expecting great things from the second cour and possible or rather definite score boost as it enters Winter 2017.

Final Impression: Overall, great sports series, it had all the passion, intensity and zeal that I love about sports shows and it delivered them with honesty and spirit. I didn't know anything about rugby when going into this series and I'm glad that I learnt some rules of rugby. Characters were great, there are still some new faces that I didn't even know existed until an episode showed up about them but nonetheless the majority of the characters are likable and fun to watch. If anything the only issue with the series is perhaps it's slow pacing and the fact there are a lot of character-centric episodes but more character exposition is never really a bad thing and it'll ultimately pay off later. We never really got to see the Jinko boys play a tournament game and that's a little disappointing but there were still a lot of great matches and they were all presented really well. I really hope this gets an S2 someday so we can see the Jinko boys grow further and finally play a tournament game.

Final Rating : 8

#7 Onihei

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: A very good start with a lot of potential to be better, the historic setting is really nice and the episodic stories are surprisingly good. Heizo is a really nice character. I suspect this show might rise in my rankings through the season.

Final Impression:

#8 Kuzu no Honkai

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Well having read the synopsis I knew this wouldn't be my cup of tea since I expected it would have a really depressive atmosphere with a lot of teen angst and I suppose that's how it is but the show is still pretty decent to watch. The real reason I'm watching this is cause the intimate scenes especially the kissing are really well done and the Yuri of course. I probably wouldn't have liked this show half as much if it didn't have that Yuri. Need more Yuri in the show man. Hanabi and Mugi scenes are really good as well, if only they were to become a real couple. It's pretty clear that these characters are all gonna fall deeper and deeper into despair and turn into scum as the title says. I suppose while I may not like any of them it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Final Impression:Overall, I don't even know why I decided to start this series. It was pretty clear from the plot synopsis that this show may not be something I like and would be riddled with annoying drama, angst and melancholy and I'm really not a big fan of depressive shows in general. Surprisingly enough, I didn't really mind it as much as I thought I would, In fact you could say this series did kind of become some sort of a guilty pleasure and I guess that's not a bad thing. From the beginning, all the way to the very end I can say that I'm highly neutral towards the characters, their problems and their actions. I often find their actions really stupid and just driven by lust and impulse but I was never really in a position to call their actions out as acceptable or unacceptable so that's pretty much where my neutral stance comes from. Perhaps you can call the portrayal of romance in this show mature or maybe you could call it insensible but nevertheless something pulled me to the next episode every time. I think it's because of my neutral stance to these characters that I actually found it interesting to see what would happen to them in this spiral of teenage lust and angst. Throughout this whole series, I've been trying to figure out what is it the author was trying to convey through this messed up story of broken people. I couldn't figure out what it was I was supposed to take away from a story like this, was it just guilty pleasure? I finally found it, It's a very simple lesson, something a lot of people find it hard to accept but it is possible, "People can change." No matter who you are, you can change be it through your own will (Hanabi) or with the help of others. (Akane) This right here is in my opinion the moral of this story. Honestly, if the last episode hadn't happened I don't know what I would have thought of this show right now.

Final Rating : 8

#9 ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: The show has a really interesting and deep rooted plot that is building up slowly but surely. While it remains interesting to watch, sometimes it can feel a little slow. Hopefully all this buildup pays off.

Final Impression: Overall, ACCA was a really interesting show, the plot building, development and politics were really interesting and the twists in the story were excellent as well. If I had to pick, the show sometimes felt quit slow because of all the buildup but ultimately it was all worth it and this finale was awesome.

Final Rating : 8

#10 BanG Dream!

Predicted Rating at start : 8
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Probably my favorite among the new series of this Winter season. The show is very reminiscent of Love Live! and I love that. Characters are adorable and the show has a really positive and passionate feel to it. The Twinkle Twinkle Little Star performance was really moving and the show is getting better every week. Really glad that this is two cour and really looking forward to see how it goes.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a good show, I really enjoyed it. Felt a little reminiscent of Love Live when it started but i can't say it was as good or as charming as Love Live for me. Needless to say it was still adorable and enjoyable in it's own way. All the girls were great and their interactions were pretty fun to watch, loved how the girls worked their way up from nothing to playing at Space. Sadly though, for a show centered around music, I didn't really find any of the songs particularly striking apart from the ED. Not to say that they were bad but they didn't really have a lasting appeal on me I guess. Despite my comparison, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to see more.

Final Rating : 8

#11 Urara Meirochou

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: The show is funny, adorable and all round just really fun to watch. Has a nice light hearted and pleasant atmosphere. I know I'm gonna enjoy watching the girls interacting and having fun together. It's really nice to see how close the girls are. Chiya and Kon are my favorites so far, they are so cute. <3

Final Impression: Overall, a really cute and adorable show. Entertaining, pleasant and heartwarming at times. It's what I expected and what I got, characters were cute adorable and all round a real joy to watch. The whole magic and fantasy element with the Urara's is nice and there's also a fair amount of mystery in the show. Hopefully we'll get a second season someday.

Final Rating : 8

#12 Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans 2nd Season

Predicted Rating at start : 9
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Epic restart to the show, Love how they showcased how the world changed post the events of the first season. It's so great seeing all these characters again and how much they've developed and matured from the events that happened in the original. Mika's sky entry was just pure epicness, Those shots of Barbatos amidst the smoke and eye flashes. So damn cool, How can anyone dislike Giant Robots fighting against each other? Quite a few new characters, Including a masked man who's mask glows :O, Talk about innovation. XD However the first twp episodes have mostly been just buildup for the events to come. The 3rd episode however was pure awesome and classic Gundam Greatness, The space battles were excellent and glad to see that there's a bit of strategy in the show as well. Can't wait to see what Sunrise has in store for this second season.

Mid Season Impression(Episodes 4-12): Epic as ever, The action is freaking awesome. Those Barbatos eye flashes along with the pure epicness of smooth and agile battle movements is way too epic. Lot of interesting set up for the second half and it's interesting to see how Orga's gonna handle himself with what's happening. Mika's conviction to Orga is something else though. Fareed also is plotting. All this plot building is gonna give us one heck of epic second half. High hopes.

Final Impression: guess as a whole you could say the theme of this season is to Appreciate the things you already have and never lose sight of them over the greed of getting more. As referenced by Mika they had already reached the place they wanted to be, they were already family. The longing for more is what eventually resulted in the death of Tekkadan and I guess this is what this story tries to convey. The time skip summary was good enough for me, at least the Fareed events brought about change in the Gjallarhorn's governing structure. I suppose it feels sad to see Rustal and co get away with all the corruption but hey it's not like our irl governments are pure so what the hell? At least here we can see there's change for the better, while it's a little unbelievable to see that everything turned out positively after those events, I'll take what I get. It's better than showing a corrupt Gjallharorn still ruling. It's been quite the run, I have to admit that I didn't like the direction of the story in this 2nd season but it was still entertaining and enjoyable enough with an ending that I find acceptable but the deaths of all the characters were complete bullshit and could have been done better. First season was definitely the better one though but I can't bring myself to give this one a lower rating.

Final Rating : 8

#13 Youjo Senki

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 8

Initial Impression: Seems to have one of those Magic and Science settings, I'm not particularly fond of this setting since anime with such settings never really explain the rules behind the powers they use and come up with these random explanations to whatever reactions or events that happen. While Youjo Senki does fall into this to an extent, it is still really enjoyable. Tanya is quite the savage character and her monologues while criticizing Being X and getting screwed over by him are really entertaining to watch. The action and animation are great and I hope the quality stays that way.

Final Impression: Overall, great show. When it first started I wasn't sure how they were gonna execute the war and political theme but here we are and they've done it excellently. The action was top notch from the start to finish and really exciting and enjoyable to watch even if it's portraying the brutality of war. I originally had a little doubt regarding the magic/science side of the show where we often never really get explanations as to why these powers work in this particular way, (Especially true for most magic battle LN's) while this show certainly didn't really provide alot of detail regarding the magic and powers side. The actions and battles were still great and I didn't have any issue with them. So yeah, great show.

Final Rating : 8

#14 ChäoS;Child

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: This is miles above the original Chaos;Head which i really need to read the VN for. Heck the episode 0 recap of Chaos:Head was better than the series. The mystery and suspense of the show are really well done and the science parts are always interesting. Great setup so far and I'm really looking forward to see where this heads.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a good show. The mystery and development was good, characters could have used more exposition perhaps, but I guess that's all we're gonna get since I hear this adaptation is rushed. I don't think the whole Gigalomaniac thing was explained properly, I guess the show assumes you're watching this after Chaos;Head so you're expected to know stuff. Things got pretty wild these last two episode and they definitely needed to be explained much more in detail, I'm not really sure if everything I stated above is right. XD However, this show was definitely above the original Chaos;Head but I'm gonna say that Occultic;Nine was the superior mystery both in terms of development, science fiction, antagonists and detail. Still a good show nonetheless.

Final Rating : 7

#15 Masamune-kun no Revenge

Predicted Rating at start : 8

Initial Impression: Great start so far, Characters are really likable and Aki is absolutely adorable with her Tsun. Makabe is a very nice MC and he's really hilarious at points as well. The son of a bitch part was so hilarious. XD Really liking the development between Aki and Makabe for now, Looking forward to see this develop into a sweet romance despite Makabe's initial ulterior motives.

Final Impression: Overall, a good rom-com show, really hilarious at points and the characters were nice and fun to watch. Pretty hilarious at times and sweet when it needs to be. I suppose you can say the show does succeed as a rom-com. I originally thought Neko would create a lot of drama, turns out she became my favorite character. XD I feel she's a better match for Masamune over Aki now, though I don't mind Aki and Masamune getting together. If anything, the show did tank a little in these last few episodes especially with the introduction of Gasou and I honestly didn't really like how the show progressed after that with Aki acting vulnerable and the whole antagonizing of Makabe, but the finale was good enough.

Final Rating : 7

#16 Seiren

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: Definitely feels reminiscent of Amagami. Then again, that was to be expected since it's the same setting if I'm not wrong. Lovely the designs for all the girls, They all look fabulous. I love Hikari already and I love her more and more each episode. Her blushes and actions every episode just maker her more and more adorable. Shouichi is a decent lead I guess, he's nothing special but he works for this kind of series.

Final Impression: Overall, Amagami is the superior series but needless to say I definitely enjoyed Seiren. Loved all the girls and while Tsuneki's arc could have definitely been better, I really enjoyed Toru and Kyouko's arcs a lot with Kyouko's arc being the best out of the three.

Final Rating : 7

#17 Demi-chan wa Kataritai

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: A really interesting show, characters are fun and cute and the show does deal with issues like discrimination and the issues minority people face in a very elegant way.

Final Impression: Overall, a really nice show, great characters all round and excellent attention to detail. It's all these small details that you notice that truly let you realize how much development there's been over the course of the show and how things have changed. I can't say I liked every single moment but the show was definitely enjoyable as a whole. Going into this show in the beginning of the season, I didn't really know what to expect but I can surely say it turned out very well. Strangely enough, I just don't know why I don't feel like giving this show a higher rating even though I definitely enjoyed it. If I ever figure out why, I'll probably come back and edit this post. I think it might be that I wasn't all that emotionally invested. Not really sure.

Final Rating : 7

#18 Tales of Zestiria the X (2017)

Predicted Rating at start : 7
Current Rating : 7

Initial Impression: Lot of buildup episodes and not as action packed as the first season was. Some scenes still look really cool and awesome. I don't know what they are gonna do in the plot but a Berseria connection would be awesome.

Final Impression:

Final Rating :

#19 One Room

Predicted Rating at start :7

Initial Impression: It's actually a pretty fun self-insert kinda show. XD The VN style episodes are actually pretty nice.

Final Impression: Really sweet series, people hate it for no reason.

Final Rating : 7

#20 Fuuka

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: I like it way more than I ever liked Suzuka, Fuuka is a much more likable character. The music aspect of the show is great as well, Tama-chan best girl.

Final Impression: Overall, I don't know? It was a decent show for the most part but these last few episode tanked really hard, forced drama, forced romance, characters with complete 180 changes and moves. The music aspect of the show is nice but sadly the forced romance drama brings it down heavily. Plus they completely trolled us with Truck-kun. xD Sucks what happened to Koyuki, she was the best character of this show. Honestly, if this is what they wanted to do from the start, why even bother introducing her? They could have just focused on Yuu and Fuuka just like the initial episodes and it would've turned out way better than this. I liked it more than Suzuka though. XD

Final Rating : 6

#21 Nanbaka (2017)

Predicted Rating at start :7

Initial Impression: I'm glad they started by reinforcing the point that Nanbaka is a gag anime and that is exactly what it excels at. Though it does look like there's gonna be some serious events later on, well let's see what happens.

Final Impression: Overall, I felt the first season was better, it had better comedy and the action was also a lot more entertaining cause of the games. That's why I liked the first half of this season more than the second half because the eccentric comedy and frolic has always been Nanbaka's strongest point. The comedy in this second arc was completely downplayed by the whole serious nature of the Enki arc. Even Jyugo confidence issues and insecurity got a little annoying at points. Though I do admit that this second half had some good moments like the Upa, Liang and pig guy story, however no matter what Nanbaka is still a gag anime and it's at its best when it embraces those roots. If we ever get a season 3, I hope it's more comedy focused liked the first season.

Final Rating : 6

#22 Minami Kamakura Koukou Joshi Jitensha-bu

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression: It's decent I guess, pretty classic stuff for this kind of series but I think Long Riders is the superior series considering both are pretty much the same genre.

Final Impression: Overall, it was a decent show I suppose. Enjoyable at times but sometimes fell flat as well, more times then I expected though. We definitely needed more touring episodes like the last one, the last one was definitely the best episode if you ask me. I don't know, I just feel Long Riders was superior in almost every way when compared to this one.

Final Rating : 6

#23 Rewrite: Moon and Terra

Predicted Rating at start : 6

Initial Impression: Better than the first season but still a lot of questions and lot of things that I feel should be explained properly. I guess the series is more geared to people who have read the VN.

Final Impression: Overall, I don't know? This season was definitely better that the first in certain areas since it was a lot more serious but I can't say I liked it all that much, mostly because it's not all that easy to understand being an anime only. I understood what I could for the most part but I honestly believe I would've enjoyed this more had I read the VN. The shows seems more geared towards people who have read the VN as it's more understandable which is very important considering how heavy on detail and info this season was. Season 1 was more fun and pleasant to watch in the beginning but it went pretty bad once things started getting serious. On the contrary this season had way better action that the first but is a lot harder to follow and at some point I stopped trying to understand everything in detail and started taking stuff at face value and that's never a good thing for me.

Final Rating : 6

#24 Idol Jihen

Predicted Rating at start : 6

Initial Impression: Ludicrous is all I have to say but it's still kinda fun to watch.

Final Impression: Overall. it was a really ludicrous show, silly with probably a lot of unbelievable things given it's already weird setting and even the whole plotline felt a little stupid but it was fun enough to watch I suppose even if I wasn't all that invested. The girls were good though. XD

Final Rating : 6

#25 Piace: Watashi no Italian

Predicted Rating at start : 6

Initial Impression: This series is somewhere in the middleground for me. I've seen better shorts, this one isn't bad but I feel it isn't as good as some of the others.

Final Impression: Decent short series, seen better though.

Final Rating : 6

#26 ēlDLIVE

Predicted Rating at start : 6
Current Rating : 6

Initial Impression: Very mediocre start, I have a fair amount of issues especially with Drew's commenting on everything. Story and characters don't seem to be anything special but they are not that bad I guess. The VA cast is good so if nothing I'll watch it jut for them.

Final Impression: While the series did become better, it still hasn't become anything special and I can't say it was all that memorable and I wasn't really all that invested in the plot or even the characters for that matter but the show as a whole definitely wasn't bad, just a little on the bland side I suppose. Perhaps the slow improvement in quality is a good sign? S2 might be better if we ever get one. Also, I really hope that Dolugh stops spoon feeding whatever is happening on the screen, I mean everyone can understand what's going on without him saying so. XD

Final Rating : 6

#27 Sousei no Onmyouji

Predicted Rating at start : 7

Initial Impression:Show as been quite average for now, The world still needs explaining to do especially for a Battle-Shounen. Rokuro and Benio's interactions are nice though, Fight scenes look good but there isn't really anything intense for now. I do hear that it is a horrible adaptation and the manga is far better, Might consider reading the manga if this doesn't get interesting for while. Sometimes the drama and action doesn't click with me.

Mid-Season Impression:Show has picked up since episode 16, It's gotten quite good. Hopefully it gets better and better. Benio and Rokuro's chemistry is really great and cute. I can't believe after that short set of episodes where the series really picked up, we went into fillers immediately after that. That's just sad, Most of the fillers are really mediocre and boring with a few good moments at most. Screw these fillers man, Seriously. Losing a lot of interest in the show because of them.

Final Impression: Overall, I started this show after hearing multiple people praise the manga, I'm a huge sucker for a good Shonen so I was really looking forward to what this series would bring in, 50 episodes at the time seemed really nice since most shows now are just 1 or max 2 cour. Sadly enough, I didn't find the initial episodes to be all that interesting but I had hope the series would get better and it did. I think it was around the 18-25 mark where the series peaked and I really liked those parts. It was just downhill after that with fillers and dull boring arcs and story progression that felt really really badly executed. Heck episode 48 is one of the prime examples of shitty execution, I lost a lot of my interest here and I still don't know why I didn't just put the series on hold or something. Add to this the fact that none of the villains were even remotely interesting and literally all of them went out in an anticlimactic fashion. The characters were decent and likable so no issue there. The only thing I liked and looked forward to in this show was Rokuro and Benio's romance and I'm glad at least that went down well even if it was dragged to the final episodes. Still, as a whole the series remains mediocre, then again I've heard this is a terrible adaptation so I might just like the manga but after watching this I'm still reluctant to read it. XD Maybe in due time, when that reluctance disappears, I'll pick up the manga and hopefully it'll be as good as people say it is.

Final Rating : 5

#28 Trickster: Edogawa Ranpo "Shounen Tanteidan" yori

Predicted Rating at start : 6

Initial Impression: Fairly decent start, The opening sequence of the pilot episode was really cool. Seems a little episodic so far with the mysteries but it's still pretty nice to watch, I suspect it'll get into the major story sometime soon once Thousand Faces appears. Characters seem interesting but I'm still fairly neutral towards them, Don't particularly like or dislike them. I have some qualms about Kobayashi's power which I hope will get explained at some point because I feel that his powers seems to take effect depending on plot convenience. The actions of the antagonists like the girl in the 2nd episode and the useless security in the 3rd one also seem like plot convenience. Here's to hoping this show doesn't become another Ranpo Kitan.

Mid Season Impression(Episodes 4-12): Show has gotten progressively worse with some annoying melodrama. Don't have a lot of hope for the continuation in winter.

Final Impression: Overall, the first episode of the show seemed good and I thought this might end up better than Ranpo Kitan but no, it was worse. Honestly the first half was at least decent but this second half has been totally boring and I couldn't care less as to what happened and how things ended up. Animation was really poor at points, Fights especially gunfights were downright terrible and story telling? What story? Hell, the episodic structure of the first few episodes were actually better than what this show culminated in.

Final Rating : 4
